Thanks that helps Smile
The 3rd irdeto card is the same as pictured on the website ive bought from in the past - so ill try that one.
I suspect my issue is more about having an incompatible cam - rather than an issue with DVB-S vs DVB-C.

If not - then everyone could watch tradme in the next week for a CAM hahahah.

Just got my new irdeto cam this morning so was eagerly waiting to try it out. Held my breath as i put it into the wintv-ci and then changed to one of the encrypted channels. 2 secs later i have a pic !!! woooo hooooo .... so it was my old xcam that was causing the issues. So far the wintv-ci is working a dream for viewing and recording.

Out of interest which card do you use in your system? I hear that only cards of a certain colour work in NZ. Also if you could tell me what brand/model of set-top the card came with that would be helpful.

I think you're referring to the Sky smartcards, these have two variants in use in New Zealand, one really old that doesnt work with NDS CAM's and softcams, and a newer one (from the MySky boxes and subset of slim PACE boxes) which does work (because its newer and very similar to the system used in the UK). I'm not using Sky here. I use TelstraClear.

Thanks Sub. Do you know which model of slim Pace box has the Sky card that works in WinTV-CI? Alternatively I could switch to TelstraClear's DVB-C, in which case, do use the same WinTV-CI/Irdeto setup with their card?

I dont know - I've not had this setup myself. I'm just recounting what I heard. Its a small silver pace box, but some variants of it have the old Sky smartcard, some have the newer one. If you look on the Geekzone forums you should be able to find plenty of info on which Sky smartcards work with CAMs and 3rd party set top boxes.

I am trying to set up NPVR Multidec in NZ with a Infinity USB Phoenix/NewCS/Acamd combination. Has anyone got this going?

Yes, a few people have. You'd probably be better off asking a more specific question, like about a specific problem you're having when you try to get it going.

Most people are using NPVR rather than GBPVR though, since it has better multidec support.
