GBPVR won't save channels in EPG After upgrading Capture Card

QAM/ATSC are broadcast standards (analog was NTSC or PAL). Svideo, composite, component, and hdmi or video output standards. The hybrid was the lower quality RF modular which does do a cheap conversion and rebroadcast in NTSC but I have not seen a consumer STB that rebroadcasts in ATSC.

I see... so the svideo/hdmi/composite coming out of my STB is high def, but not in a format the the HVR-1600 can understand, then? Do I have that right? Not trying to be a pain, I just want to understand. Thanks again

Not quite. The svideo and composite coming out of your STB are not HD, they are converted to standard def by your STB and your HVR 1600 can capture the analog SD as you found.

Isn't the component video HD? That's how the HD-PVR gets it's signal according to Hauppauge's site. I guess there's no converter from component video to ATSC/QAM or else we'd be using that, huh?

Yes component is HD and that is why I recommended the HDPVR earlier. You wrote composite in your last post, they are not the same thing.

Yeah I know. My cable box has all of them. I like the HDPVR, just don't have 200 bucks to spend right now... Like I said, maybe for the holidays. Thanks for your patience in explaining it to me. It's much appreciated!

By the way, is the HDPVR supported in GBPVR or do I need to upgrade to NPVR for that?
