Not encrypted, there are four "free" channels in Estonia. These are the ones I am trying to watch. Not sure what the scan showed them as. Rescanning now so I can see exactly what gets caught.
OK Four free channels at 666000, 8mhz are H.264 HD unencrypted. It doesnt actually say unencrypted but it does say encrypted next to the other 30 or 40 channels, Hustler, Fox Life etc. So I guess they are unencrypted. All are DVB-T.
Other info.
Hypermedia centre, the KWorld app that came with the tuner card showed the channels fine but picture was choppy and would freeze, BlazHDTV shows the channels fine and they stream beautifully with vlc.

I am now thinking "did I see the directx message before I installed ffdshow?" I don't remember. I will try uninstalling ffdshow and see what happens. Maybe irrelevant but I don't think this message appeared when I first tried npvr. Only after ffdshow.

OK, after uninstalling ffdshow I no longer have the directx not installed message. Very weird. I also now have program info showing on the screen, which is new.

So what next.

the h264 decoder is the one you need to get right

Try watching one, then post your npvr.log and we'll take a look.

Ok, I am stupid. Where do I find the log file? Because I can't see one anywhere. Assumed it would be in the npvr folder?

It is, but under the NPVR data folder - if you're on Vista/7 it's c:\users\public\npvr\logs, if you're on XP/2003 it's c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\npvr\logs.

You should have a look at the thread linked in my signature if you've not already done so, and apply the patch archive from post #2. I'm not saying the patches will fix your problem (though they may), but there have been so many changes since 1.5.36 was released you really need to install it. edit: (oh, nevermind, I see you must already have the patches, since you mention the red DirectX warning in settings which wasn't part of the 1.5.36 release version)

You can fix the DirectX problem by downloading and installing the full DirectX runtime from Microsoft here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/de...ceb6d8fa8d

It's 95 MB! The small web installer linked by Johnson would not work on a new Windows7 install for me. Failed with an error.

Stu is right about it only affecting the menus, but they are jerky without the runtime even on a fairly high powered machine.

Yes Siree, patches installed before I even started messing about. I'm not one of those time wasting don't read the instructions types. More your "read the instructions, got confused, poked it with a pointy stick to see what happened" types.
Log attached. And renamed .txt not .log as apparently a .log is an invalid file. At least for the purposes of attaching.

Most people zip them. In fact I usually explicitly tell people to do that, but for some reason I didnt when I asked you to post your log.

Unfortunately there is nothing obvious in your log. If you do a recording, then play it, does it also give no video? If no video on a recording, I might need to get you to supply a short recording (megaupload.com or other hosting site), and I'll try playing it here.
