Not encrypted, there are four "free" channels in Estonia. These are the ones I am trying to watch. Not sure what the scan showed them as. Rescanning now so I can see exactly what gets caught.
OK Four free channels at 666000, 8mhz are H.264 HD unencrypted. It doesnt actually say unencrypted but it does say encrypted next to the other 30 or 40 channels, Hustler, Fox Life etc. So I guess they are unencrypted. All are DVB-T.
Other info.
Hypermedia centre, the KWorld app that came with the tuner card showed the channels fine but picture was choppy and would freeze, BlazHDTV shows the channels fine and they stream beautifully with vlc.
I am now thinking "did I see the directx message before I installed ffdshow?" I don't remember. I will try uninstalling ffdshow and see what happens. Maybe irrelevant but I don't think this message appeared when I first tried npvr. Only after ffdshow.
OK, after uninstalling ffdshow I no longer have the directx not installed message. Very weird. I also now have program info showing on the screen, which is new.
So what next.
