It's not a rebranded Hauppauge device. Some other company made it.

Thanks Sub, so made to SageTV's specs with the sigma chip? So out of interest, and I don't know why I am asking this, totally Sage related and unhackable?

cheers

It's hackable and I probably could have run mpvmcx3 and NPVR on the HD300. Now it's not available. For a bit of history, year ago before I started mvpmc emulation mode I did contact Jeff/Narflex from SageTV explaining my plans for a generic extender interface and he considered but ultimately rejected the idea.

Thanks Martin for the update. So with the sigma 8655 chip what is it closest to in terms of PCH/Egreat/Hauppauge devices? I still don't know why I am asking this Big Grin

Of course you say now it is not available. Now it is not. But google will surely have to swallow the cost of any excess devices left from their buy out and dump them in landfill, or sell them on?. And then there all those SageTV users who have bought one just to find SageTV will, probably, be no longer supporting them?

If your point is simply to find out if you should buy one at a "bargain-basement" price, I would say no at any price, but I expect SageTV users will keep the price up anyway. Will I be creating a version for SageTV users on their extenders, again no.

No, not looking to buy, just trying to understand the technology!

Why would they keep the price up? If SageTV is potentially about to die? What version of SageTV did you think I was talking about? I was only thinking about loading NextPVR onto a SageTV extender device Big Grin Which is what I think you have said no to?

Unlike NPVR and GBPVR users in general, the SageTV users really love their extenders and it is promoted heavily by the community. Many existing users want to buy more.

5, 6, 7, their latest 7RC it doesn't matter it is not dieing, just because Google bought it. GBPVR 1.4.7 has been "dead" since Sept 2009 and it still has plenty of fans. Some people here still use the original GB-PVR (pre v1.0) for many reasons.

NextPVR needs Windows, mvpmc and mvpmcx2 run on extenders. I am still looking at the platform for x3 but it won't be the SageTV HD family.

Yup, never ceases to amaze me. I actually found GB-PVR by way of SageTV about 7 years ago. It was Sub's initial dabblings with the MVP's that got me hooked. Then the MVPMC dongle that I swallowed the bait whole. True HTPC handling TV etc etc with quiet extenders. Not just nice, not just great, just bloody brilliant!

But from what you are saying the NextPVR (GB-PVR) community just never so good on their extenders? Well if that is the case, you don't know what you are missing! And now the SageTV lot might too!

cheers Martin

I don't understand extenders. My client is a $180 refurb Revo 1600/Ion graphics. It's a computer, that is a great client...
