The end goal is because sometimes when I retune and get channels, the recurring recording entries still apply, except that the channels become "Any Channel". So normally what I do is to export the entries to an xml file, and use a text editor to "search and replace" the old channel ID to reflect the new channel ID. After that I import into NextPVR. But before that I will need to delete all recurring recording entries so as to start afresh.

I have had success in the UK using "avoid duplicates" to record shows from a series. The wiki is a bit off on the subject. NextPVR can use series and episode numbers in the EPG data (if you get that data) to identify and avoid recording duplicates. Duplicates are avoided if they are in the ready recordings list or in the recently deleted table in the database. The recently deleted table can keep a record of a deleted show for months.

The upshot is that you could (maybe ... hopefully ... possibly) set all recordings as "any channel" and let NextPVR sort out any chaos caused by shows that switch channels.

I'm not using the EPG data as it's not reliable enough, especially when there are special events that result in disruption of the normal schedule, which is not updated in the EPG data in time.

So I'm using manual recurring recordings.
