Initial install unable to start tuners

Any Idea why NextPVR can not find the tuner filter and start the tuner?

To be honest, I'm not sure why you'd be getting this. I've never seen any other HVR-1800/1850 user with this.

If you willing to let me remote into your machine, using teamviewer or RDP, I could take a closer look.

Please bear with me sir. I'm plugging along here. In fact I only have analog cable plugged in to my Hauppauge tuner. I found the Wiki on installing WinTV SoftPVR components and I now see my analog tuner in the device list. If I try to scan channels, NextPVR crashes. I did import channels form an xml file generated via zap2xml.pl. If I try to watch live TV I see a message indicating the program can not communicate with the NPVR recording service. I see the service is stopping for no apparent reason. This may be all moot as my cable provider is going "all digital" in a couple of months. When this happens, I'm not too sure what I will be able to tune with my Hauppauge tuner. Will have to use a "mini box" provided by the cable company to convert to input into my tuner.

Still curious as to why I'm unable to scan my ATSC or QAM tuners from windows 7, although its perfectly clear why no channels are found when booted to Windows 8.1. (There is no source for any digital channels to the Hauppauge)

Was able to get analog tuner working in NextPVR under Window 8.1 by installing Standalone Filters for GB-PVR. There are few applications installed there which contain any decoders.
In windows 7 any attempt to view Live TV crashes the NPR Recording Service.
There are several apps installed there which include decoders like Cyberlink DVD Pro, Muvee, Pixela, PDR.
Tried using the same set of decoders which worked in Windows 8.1 but still unable to even watch live TV as the recording service crashes. Not sure why this service would be required.

This is interesting. NPVR Record service starts up and listens for client connections.
Start NextPVR, then select Live TV. Then the record service connects and configures itself up to the point where it is falling back to software decoder, then the record service crashes without making any log entry. NextPVR errors saying it can not communicate with the record service. I did momentarily disable Norton Security firewall for this test, but that did not help. Wonder why the record service is stopping so abruptly. Here are the last 2 lines of the record service log file.

I'm not sure why it's not finding the hardware encoder. If you've definitely got a HVR-1800/1850, then it has one.

If you're available in the next couple of hours, and want install teamviewer, I can remote in and take a look.

Tried to eliminate any SW conflicts by first stopping likely suspects, such as any service or app associated with WMC and any imaging devices, camera sw, etc to no avail.
Booted in diagnostic mode with only essential drivers & services, still no help. Ordered, received, & installed WinTV v8 and voila, everything works now in NextPVR.
An interesting thing happened early on in the WinTV installation. The installation stopped and advised there was a corrupted registry key which would prevent installation, so I clicked on fix and the install completed successfully. I'm going see if I can find a log file for the install to see exactly what key was corrupted in what way. I have experienced some issues in the past with various app where permissions on some registry keys were too restricted. Perhaps this is another instance of this.
