I have just installed gbpvr on my daughters PC without any problems with a Hauppauge 90002 DVB card. Everything works OK. (I have one or two usage questions I will post in another thread).

Now think the problem on my PC is caused by a Serial ATA Host Controller card (Silicon Image SIL 3112 card) which has some driver software installed which could be causing the pop-up box. Note: I had a clean install of XP with all updates, my Hauppauge 909 DVB card....and I forgot to mention this SATA card. Should really try a clean install with SATA card removed and just IDE HD....it will have to wait until I get time!!

Have others with this problem got PCI Sata cards or similar PCI cards installed ?

Thanks DrPlix

I have now rolled back to version 90.10 and have found this to be much better compatibility with my Nova-T (909).

I now just have the remaining 2 problems

1) Live TV works fine great video + audio until I change channel and then the audio gets all garbled / underwater. I can restore this by coming out of LiveTV to main menu and then going back into Live TV. (not going to use livetv so not really a problem)

2) On recordings the Audio is out of sync with the picture by approx 1/2 - 1 second. I think there are seperate utils that I can run to correct this so this would be liveable. Would be nice to get all this sorted though.

As a side note how can I tell which .ax files GBPVR is using. In order to get to this limited stage I have installed trial versions of many CyberLink / Intervideo products and also a full version (though not latest) version of ShowShifter. I would like to uninstall these programs but I will need to know which .ax files GBPVR is using and which registry key if any it is checking against to find these files.

Despite thinking the extra 'unknown' dialog box When I press the 'Map Digital Channels to EPG Channels' was associated with my Serial ATA Host Controller card, I have now removed the sata card and done a clean install on standard IDE disk and have found the problem is still there and is caused by Showshifter. I install showshifter before GBPVR to overcome the mpgmux.ax error 'You will not be able to record or timeshift liveTV until you install the Cyberlink, Intervideo or Showshifter MPEG2 Multiplexer filter. These filters are often installed by other applications, but were not found on your machine' when mapping channels. I found the I still got the mpgmux error if I installed either WinDVD 4, PowerDVD 4, WinDVD 6 or PowerDVD 6 (last 2 latest trial version downloded from the web). I never configured Showshifter, maybe that was the problem, although I doubt it.

In light of the problems I have had, I thought I would share the following install info to help others:

My experiences starting from a clean XP SP2 install (with all updates):

Install nova-t card and drivers for card (or similar tv card)
Install PowerDVD 4.
Manually install mpgmux.ax (see other posts on this site for further info)
Install GBPVR.
Continuing at this point will tune and find all channels. Sound works OK, but there is no picture in the preview window. This applies to live TV also i.e. works but no picture.
Installing WinDVD 4 gets the picture to work. So something it installs is needed !!!!

I now have problems installing more than one nova-t... but will create a new thread.
