Thanks those samples were too short as noted I need a few minutes to properly look at them but that problem seems slightly different NextPVR log files aren't needed either.

No need to explain about the web interface, it is transcoding and remuxing the files. You like will find that remuxing recordings will make them playable. I probably could give the option to transcode live TV like that if I can't see another strategy.

Thanks Quest was 28 seconds. It will be trouble I think, it has mpeg2 sidedata which I don't know anything about.

So things have changed since I tested this a few months ago as with uidroid (164) 2 out of 4 TS recordings playback and skip perfectly fine.

I also have Doc martin recorded and like you, I get that error when I try to play that episode (consistency is good in this context) but episode S10E01 (also recorded on ITV HD) one week earlier DOES play.

I still strongly recommend that you consider post processing your NextPVR UK recordings to mp4 or mkv, not just for ExoPlayer but for other players as well. This will clean up some issues I noticed in all the samples I saw.

That works well. I tried 30 live programmes and 20 recordings and everything played. Brilliant. Thanks very much.

I'll look into the post processing. Is it a simple setting change?

Great let me know how it goes and keep samples that don't play.  I do expect some might stutter.

I personally don't recommend using NextPVR's built-in profiles for post processing unless you really want to play in the browser and the pick the mp4 option.  You will get optimum quality with a simple remux in postprocessing.  It is worth it.

Attached is a copy of my postprocess.bat file that you can use to remux your recordings into an mp4 container.
If you're interested in using it:-
copy the file to C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\scripts (and rename it to postprocessing.bat) 
edit the file in notepad (not wordpad)
read the comments in the file and make the necessary edits before attempting to use it (you need to add your NextPVR Access PIN so it can update your database).

I had a look at that script and it will strip dvbsubs and at least for uidroid use transcoding audio should not be necessary so it can be a little lighter. It also will lose audio quality if you don't specify more info.

Good points.
IIRC, I had to transcode the audio due to the UK using LATM AAC and the ffmpeg MP4 muxer does not support aac_latm.
I believe the bitrate defaults to 128 which I think is fine for general use but agree it would be better to have a higher bitrate such as 320kbs (also, aac encodes more efficiently than mp3).
I would if course prefer to use "approved" ffmpeg settings from yourself or sub.
