Issues with latest release

It appears that the playback issues are on recordings made with the prior version of NPVR. Watched news tonight and last night, both were fine. They were also watched while recording, whereas the problematic ones were watched days after recording.

There was no change - they're still just a dump of whatever the broadcaster sends. NextPVR doesn't add or remove anything from the data.

If you've got a recording that won't play properly, supply the example file and I'll take a look.

As Martin said, AV sync usually comes down to the audio renderer, or maybe you've changed something about your speaker setup etc in Windows (which is in effect changing stuff about your audio renderer)

I changed nothing. I updated from last year's version to this most recent version and all my old recordings have audio out of sync, while new recordings are fine. And NLite worked fine.

I've since rebooted the PC and will explore the older recordings and see if the issue persists.

New recordings are doing it also. I've tied it to skipping ahead, i.e. if I don't skip over commercials, then the sound and video are synched. If I do, they get messed up, sometimes.

More info - it seems that if I just play a recording, and never try to fast forward, it's fine. If I do fast forward then sometimes it goes out of sync. If I stop the recording, then play again (since Resume doesn't work), it's often back to find.

Based on the Resume function not working, I have to believe the two are tied together.

I will work on uploading one.

Watching SNL this morning.  I skip a commercial and it is out of sync.  I backup a few frames and then it is in sync.  Then, as it plays it grows further out of sync.  I have to pause, backup, and then it syncs again.  

Is this really confined to me?

Edit - A 30 min program is too big to upload.  In a zip file, it's 2.7gb.  I DM'd you a link.

As much as I like the snappy response of NextPVR.exe I stopped using it in v4 since it would not preform will enough for me compared to other clients.

That being said I am pretty sure that for the closed captioning many users in many versions have had trouble with the closed captioning decoder to the point of removing it. I know you enable them but if you rename NPVRCCExtractor.ax to NPVRCCExtractor.old and try skipping how is the sync? I also suggested yauiclient earlier because it has much better CC sync.

The sync has nothing to do with closed captioning, it's the sync of audio with video. Of course when it's out of sync, the closed captioning is worse.

All I can say is playback without CC'ing has definitely be impacted by NPVRCCExtractor.ax for any users for years. It is worth the test.

After about 50 skips, I'm not seeing any obvious sign of sync issues.

It might be worth you running this utility before starting NextPVR, and maybe hit 'copy to clipboard' when it's badly out of sync, so I can see what it's reporting.
