Further to this. I uninstalled the Intervideo 'ivivideo.ax' decoder and things were working fine. I tried ripping a DVD and now I got an error in 'gplmpgdec.ax', the GPL MPEG decoder. So, I uninstalled that as well.
Well, then something very interesting happened (at least interesting to me) When I restarted GBPVR the Live TV aspect ratio had changed! the image was now more vertical and had wide black bands along the right and left. And the audio lagged the video, they were not in sync.
Not only that, but my VMR9 had been working even though I had set to use the CyberLink decoders. After the removal of 'gplmpecdec.ax' the VMR no longer works --- no popup guide, etc. I can only get them by reverting to the "Overlay Manager" option.
So I reinstalled 'gplmpgdec.ax' from a fresh download and everything is back to normal: video has the correct aspect ratio. There is still a slight lag in the audio and video however. The VMR9 now works with the Cyberlink decoders (although based on what sub says I am beginning to think that it isn't actually using CyberLink, it's actually now using the GPL decoder and was in the past.)
I have not tried ripping a DVD as yet but that's next.
