Alas, no dice Sad

I fixed the drivers so that they are of equal version on both tuners but to no avail. I am currently using the "Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 150/500MCE" v2.0.24.23025 drivers from www.shspvr.com

I am using a "sterile" (fresh install) version of GBPVR v92.11 with the: <AutoDetectEncoder>false</AutoDetectEncoder> in the config.xml (directly above "</settings>").

The new NativeUtilities.dll has been copied into the c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr directory.

I configured GBPVR in the exact same manner as the original post. It is still in the same PCI slot and the coaxial cable is still plugged in through the same input.

The attached log files contain the information for these actions:

1. Fired up GBPVR
2. Select LiveTV (Recording tray defaults it to PVR-500 1-2)
3. Started timeshift mode, works fine
4. Went back to main menu; both tuners now sleeping
5. Entered TV Guide mode
6. Quick record 'Instinct' on Ch38 AMC (Records on PVR-500 1-1, 0Kb file)
7. Quick record 'Biography' on Ch39 ARTS (Records on PVR-500 1-2, increasing file size)
8. Cancel 'Instinct'; PVR-500 1-1 now sleeping
9. Try to watch 'Instinct' from TV Guide; PVR-500 1-1 shows LiveTV mode, but I get a black screen.
10. Quick record 'Biography'; PVR-500 1-1 shows 0Kb file as usual
11. Watch 'Instinct' LiveTV goes to PVR-500 1-2 and works correctly.
12. Try to cancel 'Biography' but TVGuide and Recording Tray refuse to cancel.
13. Exited GBPVR
14. Restarted computer ('Biography' still set to record)
15. Computer turns on, tray loads with 'Biography still in it)
16. Fire up GBPVR
17. Still unable to cancel 'Biography' from TV Guide
18. Exited GBPVR

I am sure I have followed the posts to the 'T' but I obviously have to be missing something...hopefully these sless sloppy logs will hold a clue.

You are all missing the one line, in the original post, that I think, is the clue to solve this.
Quote:I am only running one coaxial cable into the tuner card using the 'second to the right' input jack.
The PVR 500 has 2 tuners, and one of them is also FM.
Get a splitter, and hook up the second tuner. Big Grin
You can never have enough tuners!

Isn't the second coax connector just for the FM Radio signal?

My ass is going to hurt tomorrow from me kicking it if you are right reboot. I had to wait until today to get the supplies because I am broke, but I am assuming since you have the PVR-500 you would know whats up Smile

It would be crap if this is really my problem as I thought the 'right' input was ONLY for FM. At least that is what is mentioned in the documentation.

Anyway, more later today when I get my splitter and cable.

I have a PVR500 and going from the "top" of the card the connections are as follows:

1. FM Radio Connector (in)
2. TV Connector (coax looks like #1)
3. S-Video Input
4. Composite Video Input (yellow)
5. Audio Left Input (white)
6. Audio Right Input (red)

The splitter is internal. In order to get two seperate sources I had to get the additional bracket to connected to the 2nd header on the card. That allowed me to use S-Video as my 2nd input.

Then again I really didn't play around too much with my options and I haven't had a chance in the last few months to play around with my PVR all that much so I'm going by recollection.

I think Hauppauge changed the layout of the cards though.
I have both connected, and the documentation says one thing, but if you look on the card, it's obvious that the two tuners are on each connector, and one of them has the FM as well.
I had to hook up both to get both tuners working.

I think there may be something wrong with my card then. I tried using BeyondTV as an alternate test. Windows XP Pro recognizes my PVR-500 as 2 devices: Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI (23xxx) (Tuner 1) and Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI (23xxx) (Tuner 2).

BeyondTV has you set up sources individually too. When I went to set up Tuner 1 I got no feed but when I set up Tuner 2 it worked like a charm...same problem I was having with GBPVR.

I hope I haven't received a defective card. Sad I e-mailed Hauppague seeking troubleshooting advice. It seems like everyone else who has this card has had little or no problems setting them up, but mine has been a bear! m._.m

Indeed, you may have a dud.
I had no troubles, and it was actually smoother than setting up my 250 was (maybe I learned a thing or two along the way though).
