I must be tired; I thought you were asking me to try a dual record on the "new" machine now that I was getting an error message. Sorry.

I've put the 500mce back into the "original" computer and re-run the detection software (logs attached).

I also tried recording on both tuners of the 500mce and again get zero byte files from tuner #2.

Let me know what else I should try.

Thanks.

Still no joy.

I installed GBPVR09310.msi without any problems, but the 2nd tuner on the 500mce still produces (only) zero byte files.

Am I correct that *both* of the 500mce's tuners should be configured as "PVR500 w/ FM"?

I've re-run the autodetectencoder.exe and attached the log files in case they can shed some light.

Any suggestions on what to try next?

Thanks!

Sorry... I forgot to add:

I also ran autodetectencoder.exe after disabling the other tuners (including tuner #1 of the 500mce) via the hardware manager and get a very different error log (attached).

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

PS - You may want to add .log files to the forum's acceptable attachements list, unless they're disallowed to encourage .zip file usage...

Is this an isolated case? Does anyone else have this 500MCE with both tuners working? I'm thinking about buying one of these for my needs, but not if this is the current status.

This issue was resolved in the last release. There is a bug in the Hauppauge drivers for some installation, but a work around is now in place.

PVR500MCE works fine.

Just to toss in my 2¢.
Set up device #1 as PVR-500. Update the EPG.
Set up device #2 as PVR-500 with FM. Update the EPG.
If it fails, try the full driver package from http://www.shspvr.com (not the "pre-release").
Make absolutely sure you follow their setup procedure (it's posted in the forums, and included in the readme.txt)! It's vital to a proper driver installation.
Remove and reinstall gbpvr, and set up the sources again.
It's the only way I could get my 500's working.
Hauppauge's drivers didn't work at all.
Using XP SP1, the same as you.
You can never have enough tuners!

I'll add some pennies.
I installed this card yesterday. Somehow I thought that the FM should be attached to device #1 and it works that way. I didn't have to get extra drivers as those on the included CD worked appropriately. Everything worked perfectly right out of the box with gbpvr. I am using XP SP1 also (unless SP2 is out, I can't keep track).

One issue... I guess the software automatically picks the first available tuner for the record thus rendering my FM tuner unusable after a single recording session starts. Is there an easy way to set which tuner records the show? I assume it can be done somehow by doubling the channel listings, but that seems like a bad hack.

If you uninstall, then do a fresh install of gbpvr, and set the tuners so #2 has FM.
That's the only way AFAIK.

Well I had a 150 and just got a 500 and I thought all was well but I was wrong. I can schedule 3 recording but when I go to play all 3 of them 2 of them work and 1 will not work one has a file size of zero. I tried to run the AutoDetectEncoder.zip but I get this error

---------------------------
AutoDetectEncoder.exe - Unable To Locate Component
---------------------------
This application has failed to start because MFC71.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

I tried 2 different options #1 as 500 and #2 as 500 and or #2 500 FM. I also tried the following driver’s pvr_2.0.24.23035, pvr_2.0.34.23209_prerelease, and pvr_2.0.35.23236_prerelease with no luck.

Any other ideas?
