ah, I wasn't reading properly... i never saw that you wanted to do this programatically, I thought you wanted a GUI to browse the mdb... sorry

To come back to this original question. There is a very simple solution:
create a batchfile that does nothing (or just writes a line to a textfile or so).

Create a scheduled task from the windows task scheduler (in control panel), to run the batch file every hour or two.

I've used this a lot to wake my computer just before it had to perform a task. Works great.

on my motherboard (ASUS something) it has an option in the bios to comeout of hibernate at specified times, not to be confused with the auto boot after power out. (i think it does day and time).
Not actually used this but might be worth looking in your bios.

that may work too. It may be only working once a day, though...
But, to add to my previous post, it is necessary to set in the BIOS to wake on real time clock, or wake on alarm.
