Shut down the firewall (windows firewall is not running), same results. Right now 5906 is connected as shown in the previous screen shot, 8337 is not. I also have another instance of GBPVR listening on port 5906.

The only applications with ports open are my mail server, firefox, thunderbird, and the normal MS services.

Just my 2 cts: see what happens if you disconnect the wireless router.
I kind of remember a post with that solution. Can't hurt to try.
No settings in the mailserver that could interfere with the mvp?

Well a massive uninstall of some of my programs and a reinstall of GBPVR seems to have fixed it. Both port 5906 and 8337 are now connect and everything works. Thanks for everyones help!

Things like this always keep me curious for a few days, what was the real reason for it not to work. Maybe it's just the frustration of never going to know. Cheers anywayBig Grin

For almost two years I had no connection problems. After upgrading to GB-PVR 0.97.13 none of my two MVP boxes could connect to the PC. Stopping the GPPVR record service and starting the two Hauppauge services brought them back to life. I found the haupauge dongle.bin in the hardware folder, coped it to the gb-pvr dongle folder . That solved my problem.
It seems that the dongle.bin that comes with the GB-PVR 0.97.13 instalation does not work with all MVP units, at least not with mine. I haven't figured out what benefits there should be by using the GB-PVR dongle.bin, the hauppauge dongle seems to work fine.

After no problems in GBPVR, an upgrade to 0.97.13 makes my MVPs unable to connect to the server. I keep getting stuck on the Connecting to Server regardless of any dongle I choose. Connecting direct to the Hauppauge server is no problem at all.

Finally found the error, somehow one of the plugins updated the ICSharpCode.SharpLib.dll to version 0.84. Reverting back to version 0.500 corrected the problem and the MVP connected as soon as I restarted GBPVR. Hopefully this helps other with the same problem.
