However the Mainland has decided to go for something called DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television) developed by "Beijing Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University". Perhaps so they don't need to licence DVB-T or have folks buy existing DVB-T products or maybe it really will be better .... Have you heard anything about this magic standard? ... not that they all have HDTV TV's in China although they produce a lot of them for Samsung, Hitachi etc etc etc...

k.

[EDIT]Apparently PCCW here are supposed to be putting out HDTV via DSL, but my decoder is not one of the new ones ... probably waiting for the new DTT standard too ... testing until July 2007 :-(
I have read a couple of news articles mentioning it, but I dont really know much about it yet.

Its funny they'd call it DTT though, since that term is often used for DVB-T also.

This goes back to a problem listed earlier. The recording gets "stuck" (for lack of a better term) in record mode, but it actually isn't record. It records the show just fine, but then I can't play it with gbpvr. I'll have to convert it to be able to watch it. I forgot to mention that if it's "stuck" with the green recording tray icon like this it will not start any new recordings.

2nd problem:
Furthermore, I had two separate shows this morning that according to the counter at the top were only 10:51 and 11:57 minutes long, but they were recorded as the actual 30 minute shows. It was really weird, b/c the show kept going even though it was supposedly over. I paused it after probably 20 minutes and it went back to the 10:51 end of the show slider bar but then picked right up continuing past the end. You can't fastfoward after the progress bar has reached the end. I thought it was odd. I would leave it like this so I could experiment more, but I am going to record a show in an hour or so. So I am going to attach logs, but I am not sure how long it will take to replicate this problem again.

I think the funny duration thing is coming from this "HCW MPEG Demultiplexer" component that seems to be used when you watch .ts files. I'd install "HDTV Pump", which is what most people use for .ts playback.

A 'demultiplexer' or 'splitter' filter is responsible for determining the duration.

I installed HDTV pump, still has problems with the times and sounds. I'll try another recording to see if it fixes the problem, but no such luck up to this point.

Can you post the logs so I can see whether its using the Hauppauge stuff still or HDTV Pump? The Hauppauge stuff may have a higher merit, causing Directshow to continue to use it.

Thanks sub, yeah here are the logs. Actually, my last recording cut off like 8 minutes early. I was trying to figure out why when I checked the forum. Maybe their linked. :-)

The most recent .ts file playback attempt in those logs is using the HDTV Pump.

I dont know, I can only guess there is some funny presentation timing in the transport stream for some of your stations, and both the HDTV Pump and Hauppauge Demultiplexer report it as such. You may find recording to DVR-MS behaves better since the audio/video packets are remuxed, with new timing info created, unlike the TS Mux recordings which just store the packets in the exact format they were received (including presentation timing).

Any thoughts on why my last Dvr-ms recording quit early? Secondly, why they won't convert even though I have the ATI mux?

Maybe weak signal? A bit of garbage being received can sometimes cause the DVR-MS to stop producing data.

You need to have the Cyberlink mux for GB-PVR to convert it to anything else. You can check if you have it with the MuxChecker utility.

Do you have to buy the Cyberlink Mux? If not, where do you download it? I tried installing Cyberlink PowerDVD, but the BDA Mux checker said that I didn't have it.

Secondly, the recording hung again. The file is not increasing in size and it's about the right size, so I'm assuming that it recorded properly, but then it won't switch out of record mode in the tray. It's green, and the worst part is that it keeps the system awake. I have to restart the recording to get it to function again. I am attaching the logs. It does this about every 3rd recording.
