MVP Disconnects when attempting to play some recorded shows, but not others?

I've had several of these on occasion, i noticed it's normally a poorly recorded program, it runs as well on my PC but not on my MVP. Have you tried re-encoding it with VideoRedo or any Video Editing Software, even as the same format. Don't really know why it happens but it seems, at least to me, that file gets some form of corruption that the MVP can't decipher, thus crashes.

1 Seagate 750 GB SATA HD
1 Hauppauge PVR500MCE
2 MVP (2 Wired / 1 Wireless via 2 Linksys WRT54G routers)
1 dead MVP (searching for replacement)
