If you're on vista, try deleting the "c:\users\<user account>\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\devnz" directory.

Ta-da! Thank you very much - the guide now displays.

Ooops...spoke a bit too soon, I think Smile.

Removing that directory did give me access to the guide for that single time. However, after a reboot, I tried to access it again and it hung. Removing the directory (again - it had been recreated) and it's still hanging on access with the same "System.DivideByZeroException" errors in logs.

I dont personally have this problem on Vista, but you might need to run PVRX2.exe as administrator to avoid the issue.

Just tried it, doesn't seem to help - TV Guide still crashes on access with the same error in the logs Sad.

It does seem odd that there are obviously a majority of happy Vista users of GBPVR 1.2.9 out there, but a tiny band of us here having what seems to be the same problems. But then, I guess, we all seem to have had the same installation problem too...do you think they're connected?

As I reinstalled Vista recently, I'm pretty sure my installation is clean (and currently at the tip of the updates - not SP1 though...yet). There's not an awful lot of third party stuff on the machine in general, bar GBPVR, PowerDVD and the XVid codec. I'm also using Vista Ultimate, although I don't know if that makes a difference.

Does deleting "c:\users\<user account>\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\devnz" get you going again? If so, then running PVRX2.exe as administrator will stop vista from creating these virtual copies of the files.

Remember that logging in as an administrator and "Run as administrator" are not the same thing in Vista. Even though you are logged in as an admin, you still need to right click PVRx2.exe and select "Run as Administrator". To set this as the default for that program, right click, select "Properties", select the "Compatibility" tab, check the box that says "Run as Administrator". To make that apply for anyone who logs into the machine, click the "Change settings for all users" and do the same.

I would also set GbpvrRecordingService.exe and Config.exe to run as administrator.

'fraid not.

I've made a small bit of progress in that the 1.2.9 install failure (earlier in this thread) seems to be related to UAC being enabled - if you switch UAC off (which I guess most folk do) then GB-PVR installs without any sort of error straight from a double-click of the .msi.

However...going from a totally clean install with UAC off, without even any configuration of sources etc., if you fire-up GB-PVR straight after installation and select "The Guide" it leads to the same crash, that's whether you run PVRX2.exe as Adminstrator or not. With UAC off, it seems that the "c:\users\<user account>\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\devnz" files aren't being generated anyway, at least I don't have anything to delete between attempts to launch PVRX2.exe.

@whurlston

I'm running PVRX2.exe with a right-click "Run as administrator", but with UAC now off I guess I'm "in line" with what most Vista users would have as a setup anyway? I've certainly not done anything "special" from a security point of view. I can run "config.exe" as adminstrator, but the crash with The Guide happens without configuring anything i.e. straight after install The Guide crashes if you launch PVRX2.EXE and select it. Not sure how you run a service as Adminstrator?

If you turned off UAC then you don't need to worry about "Run as Administrator".

That will do it every time. You need to set up at least one capture source with an EPG source before attempting to view the guide.

Ahh...I didn't know that - I was going for a "minimal thing to do post-install to replicate the problem". In that case, I can't (yet) say that turning of UAC doesn't solve everything. I'll configure a source now and see what happens...
