As far as I know, the only keys GBPVR sees are the numbers and the volume/mute buttons. I don't know how the system recognizes it as a Human Interface Device when the receiver looks so simplistic.

I don't know how the system recognizes it as a Human Interface Device when the receiver looks so simplistic. I don't know how or why Windows sees, or needs to see, certain inputs as HID for them to work, but that's what mine needed. I then had GBPVR set to use an MCE remote. I'd have kept using that setup except the remote's receiver prevented the PC from booting into Windows when it was plugged in for who knows what reason. Had to unplug it, boot, then replug it in. If GBPVR already sees the number keys and whatever else, just go into the GBPVR remote control file and change what GBPVR sees when you press that remote key. Maybe make "2" seen as up arrow, "4" as left arrow, asterisk as backspace, etc. I doubt you'll ever get full functionality out of it as if it were an actual MCE remote, but even if it's possible it will probably require a good bit more work than just doing this.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

The keys on the unit look like they are hardwired or something. I just know there is a way to change what Windows converts to key presses when given from the remote. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to post.

I hope you're not bumping this regularly waiting for a response from me?
As I said, there is no built in support for your remote. There is nothing further I intend to do about it.

Oh, no. I was expecting a response from anyone who would have an idea on this. I am well aware of you saying you weren't going to provide any support for this remote. I only intended to bump this topic two times and then leave it alone.

I've had no luck with this. I think I might have to upgrade to media center edition... I have a license for it, but really didnt want the overhead. Found a roll-up for MCE2k5 that seems to have installed ok, but still doesnt recognize the remote in windows.
In any case, i'm doing a hardware upgrade soon, going from a celeron 1gHz to a p4 2.8gHz with hyperthreading. Still a little old school, but newer ... so maybe a fresh install wouldnt be the worst thing in the world. Did a little reading on the HIP site, seems like mine is a MCEv1 remote, which they dont have drivers for. Oh well... and so it goes ![]() -Blu
