It certainly does help, I actually get channels!!

TV3 (our 1080i channel) was very jumpy so as to be unwatchable......does this mean I need to find out how to enable hardware acceleration??

Gosh mate, thanks for helping get this progress!!!SmileSmile

The sound seems to deteriorate on a channel after a few minutes....its like it stutters to a halt.

What CPU do you have in your machine?

What video card are you using? What OS? and what video renderer?

Windows XP Home
8600GT
2 gig RAM

Renderer? VMR9 in the settings tab.

Do you think I need a more grunty CPU?? If so what kind?

I used to struggle with my AMD X2 4400+, but that was when I didnt have an h264 capable videocard (which you have). I've since moved a Core2duo E6400, which has no problems keeping up with software decoding (also have better video card now).

Your 8600 should give you the decent acceleration needed. How much CPU is being used?

I need a video card with component output I have no HDMi devices With HDCP.
Looking through the thread I saw it mentioned about stuttering video on channel 3. I expect this is due to the 1080i output where the HD demo channel is 720p.
Why channel 3 decided to use 1080i is a bit of a mystery to me.
So what shall I use a radeon chipset 2400 or a 8600 chipset. I am on AGP8
Any one want to buy a 6600.

I Have the same issue as RusEvo when I use powercinema channel 3 lags like counter strike on dial up.
gbpvr does not lag on channel 3 on mine it just totally locks up (other issue).

cpu used on HD demo 720p channel 35-50% no lag an no frame loss.

I think its going between 60-90% which explains the motion blur (ie surely it means its not processing fast enough).

I have a feeling that the problem of the channel working fine (but with the motion blur) and then getting patchy sound after around 15 seconds which deteriorates to no sound and then locks the picture, is a seperate issue (happens on all channels).

I would have thought that the CPU would be cruising as long as the 8600GT did all the work.

How do I know if its doing all the work?

Also does anyone know what CPUs can be put on a 6 month old Asus M2A-VM HDMI Mobo? (not that I want to replace an otherwise fine CPU.....but if it gets me HD telly well...........). Is it only AMD CPUs? I might google that one myself to save you the trouble.Smile

Also its odd that it wont let me go into "settings" whilst in the program (not config).......thats just a third issue (but the first two are my main worries!!_

should be constant cpu if video card is doing the work (well probably swing of +/-5%)
force bob should be ticked and the hardware acceleration if you click on box next to video decoder in config

Ill try that & get a better grip on the CPU usage tommorrow (its 10.30pm here).

That might explain the blur but Im still wondering about the deterioration!!

Wow CPU usage is jumping all over the place.

I clickes bob & ticked hardware acceleration but no difference, its still motion blur until the sound deterioration.Sad
