Yeah, I have confirmed that the problem was introduced in the later HDHR software. I am running older HDHR software with the latest beta firmware now with no problems.

Ranger One Wrote:I was having problems going from an HDHR QAM channel to an ATSC channel on a Hauppauge HVR 1600 where I would get the "no signal detected" message. After reading here I rolled back the software to version 20081231 & kept the firmware at 20090415. All works fine now!

Guess I won't be updating the HDHR software again anytime soon!

This will teach me to disappear for a couple of months. I'm trying to reproduce this problem but so far I've been unsuccessful (I haven't tried hard yet though). I'll see If I can reproduce it over the weekend.

FYI: Once I hit the ESC key so Live TV cannot be re-entered again, I feel the main menu scrolling to be a little bit less smooth than before.

Now can anyone having the problem try this please:

In Config - Misc tab, uncheck option "Use Live Preview mode if possible" and see if it makes any difference. On my computer it makes Live TV work again after hitting ESC. Unfortunately from this point on, PVRX2 becomes unstable and color ghosting appear in LiveTV screen. I run the latest HDHR software/firmware.

These two observations suggest that somehow PVRX2 has increased its CPU resources consumption. Maybe there is a clue here if others observe the same behavior.

I've been unable to reproduce this issue on Vista. Does it help if you change <ForcedGraphTeardown> to "true" in config.xml? (use notepad not wordpad to edit)

Well I resetted my configuration to its previous state and tried your modification alone. No more trouble with the ESC key. However I often (not always) see colored shifting or ghosting in the Live TV screen when I go back to it. Going back and forth in menus can fix it sometimes. One thing for sure is that the picture is always ok before I hit ESC the first time.

Are you saying that you no longer get the "No Signal" popup but now the picture is ghosted? If so, try a different video decoder.

If you are still getting the "No Signal" popup, zip and post your logs after reproducing the problem.

That is correct. The "No Signal" popup has never showed up again with <ForcedGraphTeardown> set to "true". I did the sequence "LiveTV - Esc - LiveTv - Esc..." numerous times, switching channels along the way and had no signal failure at all. Then I set <ForcedGraphTeardown> back to "false" and lost the signal right after the first ESC hit. Then I set it back to "true" which fixed the problem again. Now with <ForcedGraphTeardown> set to "true", I intentionnaly lost the signal by switching to a channel requiring antenna rotation. While the "No Signal" message was on, I could return to a working channel and bring the picture back on screen right away.

The ghosted picture may be a different issue after all. It is difficult to pinpoint what trigs it. In one occasion, it happened with audio/video stuttering right after I disconnected the ethernet cable and switched to wifi. Most of the time it starts when I switch channels either in LiveTV or through the TV Listings page. If no other folk reports this, I would better work it out on my side and discuss it in another thread.

At least it is good news that some progress is being made. Thanks for working on this.

By the way I do have to learn what "ForcedGraphTeardown" does so I will do my own reseach.

I noticed that when using the HDHomeRun, there would sometimes be left over instances of my ffdshow filter still active. ForcedGraphTeardown performs some extra steps in disposing of filtergraph that was used to play the stream, probably to work around some .Net issues regarding the disposal of unused resources. (Only sub would know the exact functions performed.)

It's not an option that would normally need to be enabled. In fact, this is the first time I've ever seen it needed in the years I've been using GBPVR.

The ghosting issue does sound like an issue with the network choking on the stream.

Whurlston,

I am finally back from my trip;

Anyway, I tried your suggestion to set <ForcedGraphTeardown> to true. This seems to have solved the problem for me. Out of curiosity, what does this setting do? and why did the new version of HDHomerun software affect it?
