Oh and another thing:
How do I get the logitech to work? will the receiver that came with my pvr250 be enough, or will I need some other IR hardware/software anyway?

As long as you have a receiver you should be able to make it work with any remote of you use a program like event ghost or Hip(i use hip over event ghost I find it easier to configure others say the opposite)

Remotes I really like the mce microsoft ones but they dont make them anymore

Another cheap one to look at is the Philips srm5100 controls upto 4 devices and easy to make the windows button in the middle to open GBPVR with the use of Hip comes with a ir receiver which you will be able to use with any remote you get later if you decide you want a harmony remote (i found the harmony remote sluggish to use compared to the windows remote and this philips one)
if using XP you have to modify the driver file to get it to load
works natively with vista and W7


Hip will work with pretty much any receiver

OK, I pulled the trigger and ordered the harmony remote. It looks like it will do what I want.
Now to order a white box 2250 and I'll be set. Thank you all for your advices.

I have tried all the suggestions except ffdshow and I can't get good quality unless I use VMR9 fullscreen exclusive. I'll try that next, and most likely I will switch to Windows 7 when I get a chance. I have family at Microsoft
