(Edit)
Success! HtV found what I was missing. I saw that it was a text file, but it didn't really click because my file name still showed as .chl. Now when I run the updateEPG.bat, it lets me know that it is reading the .chl file and it only wrote 11 channels into the xml file like I wanted. Thanks again, hopefully this will help someone else out. How if someone can help me rename my channels in the .db3 database, I will be happy!
Nick

Hurray.

The channel rename part is easy. Get SQLiteSPy, open gbpvr.db3, open the CHANNEL table, find your channels, click on the display_name field and change it to anything you like. Make a backup first.

The rename file probably didn't work for the same reason. You could use that too of course. You probably have to start all over again. Dennit's suggestion probably works aswell.
Good you got it working in the end.

The rename file works on the name in the EPG XML that GBPVR uses to identify the data for each channel. If you rename there, you will unlink the guide data from the name of any previously set up channels, so you will need to delete your source and set it up again. The rename method I described works only on the name you see in the Guide (display_name), not the name that GBPVR uses to link channels to corresponding guide data, so you can rename at any time without affecting the link between channels in GBPVR and guide data in the XML file. Both work, but they have different effects.

Thanks again dennit and HtV! Because of both of you, GB-PVR is working exactly how I need it to. I even got the database file edited so that my channels read how I want them to! This is exactly the reason that the forum has become one of the greatest resources on the net. Someone else out there has probably experienced it and can help out. Thanks again!

It's great that you got it working. I saw that you had the "hide extensions" option turned on, but it just failed to register that the name was wrong. Without HtV's sharp eyes, I think we'd still be spinning our wheels!
