I did notice it scan different set of frequencies but they are still all black. For my tv tuner card, i am suppose to put the coax into DTV right?

which device should i chose, i have 3:
ATI 650 Pro (QAM)
ATI 650 Pro (DVB-T)
ATI 650 Pro (ATSC)

i'm assuming QAM because it's the only one with the (default cable frequencies (custom range))

Yess, you should select the QAM model and the coax should be on the DTV input.

Please excuse my simple suggestion. I am new here. I had similar problem which was solved by removing and re-inserting the tuner card in PCI slot. Now it scans and before it did not.
My 650 Pro has 3 inputs: DTV/FM for ATSC antenna (coax furthest from S-Vid), then 'TV' for Clear QAM (next to S-Vid) and S-Vid. Try switching from 'DTV' to 'TV' coax. That's the QAM for Cable TV.

cool to have more to help me out. I will try to plug and unplug the card when i have time.

I tried scanning digital with TV plugged in, nothing.

btw how did you get the channel list?i got it from this place call mc2xml. i am starting to think something is up with that file.

I don't remember having to download a channel list to be able to scan for digital channels. i could just scan like a normal TV, how come i can't do it with GB-PVR?

For digital free roof antenna channel scan: Capture Sources (Config Screen) --> Highlite/select your card, Hit edit --> Digital Recording Plugin under Recording Source --> DVB EPG Broadcast under EPG Source (other choices are by subscription) --> Select Map Digital Channels to EPG Channels. Digital Channels Mapping screen should come up.
Select Rescan. If antenna (in my case) finds channels, they appear one at a time. Then you can pick which you want to map to PVRX2.

One last funky thing- For scanned channels to "stick", you (at least I) must be logged in as an administrator to the computer.

alright. I uninstalled the ati drivers. then i used ccleaner to clean up the reg files. unplugged and plugged in the card with shutdowns inbetween. reinstall driver.
i also reinstalled GB-PVR in the mean time.

still the same.
I used your qam-custom.ini and scanned again, having the coax in the DTV port, still nothing. attached is the log.

It still never manages to find a signal. Do you have it connected to the output of an STB by any chance? It should be connected directly from the wall to the card.

It is connected correctly, because it's the same coax that i plug into the analog which works. and before i have this card i could watch HD channels.

i think it's something wrong with the drivers, under 'device manager' -> 'sound, video and game controllers'. I see ATI unified AVstream Driver and Legacy Video capture Devices. but if i use something like VLC to see what video devices i have, i only see 'ATI AVStream Analog Capture'

if anyone else has ati TV wonder HD 650 dual tuner, i'd like to know what drivers you see

I have the 650 PRO, so not quite the same card as you (I don't think), but what I had to do is, for analog, you use the CATV input, and for QAM, you use the other input.
I am using the latest drivers available from ATI's web site.
