So does anyone know if there's any way to get avi's to transcode on demand for viewing on mvp?

Woah, I love my GBPVR but that pre-1.0 version sure is dated. With my current usage of MVPs, I guess am sticking with GBPVR 1.3 (not latest as well) for a while longer. But will keep testing and watching NPVR mature.

sub, can I use MVP to attach to a GBPVR server and an NMT attach to a NPVR server at the same time. Don't want to disrupt my kids use of the MVP during testing of NPVR. BTW, I can't just do it since I don't have an NMT yet, but am considering one to replace a dead MVP.

I've never tested it, but I dont think so. They try to use the same ports.

Follow-on N-PVR questions here, for those of us with both NMTs and MVPs, if we use PostProcessing.bat to remux SD shows into .mpg containers, can those be played on the NMT? Or do we need to keep the .ts version for the NMT? Also, will comskip skipping work on both MVP and NMT?
TIA!

Given that the NMT can't properly play ps (.mpg) or ts right now it's sort of a moot point, but last night sub sent me a test version that brings NMT navigation equal to 1.4.7 level including comskip. There are still some holes but it is close, once it is released the NMT really shouldn't care about the mpeg container for analog broadcasts. If anything, the bigger limitation could be the PC since NPVR is no longer responsible for mpeg-ps file rendering, this is left to Windows, so IMO whatever you can do to avoid post-processing the better.

Like Lostboy, I've been playing SD .ts back through my MVPs reliably for the past 18 months. Whilst I'm restricted to my main TV for HD (or transcode HD for the MVPs), the only gripe I've got is that when playing a programme on the MVPs that's currently recording , I can't jump forward.

All my recordings are in .ts format.

Just to be sure I was talking the right thing here from start of thread I was referring only to LiveTV.

In answer to Jaggy, actually not only is/was my NMT more expensive, when it behaves it is far superior, when it does not even boot properly it is not.

My MVP's booting MVPMC boot solidly from RC 100% all of the time into GB-PVR

My PCH NMT has a tendency to mis-behave, sometimes booting all the way into GB-PVR via web interface, no problem, sometimes hanging on a green screen and requiring a cold boot. Sometimes the remote turns it on, sometimes it doesn't and have to re-plug power to boot again. This is not Mrs Steeb friendly!

MVP's fleabay GBP 30-40 if you're clever. NMT's much more. PCH return to US for 50USD refurb plus packaging, expensive! And may only last 3-5 weeks before getting 'quirky' again.

Absolutely, and would have been perfect apart from the fact that GB-PVR went to black screen at the end of a LiveTV show. It has done this since the last release. The fix apparently came with N-PVR but........

He he he

Cheers

Steeb did you ever ask for help on this? Is your NMT hooked up to HDMI? If so you do have to lose really bad habits and exit mvpcmx2 when you turn off the monitor.

Hi Martin,

transition to HDMI slow in my household (long story) but no, PCH s-video into TV.

Bad habits were 'turned off' ages ago hence 100% reliability on MVP's. At night all MVP's and PCH powered down by relevant RC.

via RC MVP's boot, always, straight through MVPMC into GB-PVR.

PCH...... sometimes boots via RC (battery checked etc!) otherwise cold boot required. No problem getting loading PCH screen etc. No problem getting select Media source screen, then after auto load GB-PVR often just green screen, another cold boot 2 times out of 3 sorts it out.

And yes most obvious question did I ask for help? Answer... NO Big Grin Just thought it a quirk of PCH.....

Absolutely not. My PCH is much more stable than the MVP, you should have asked for some help. It will be much harder to increase WAF now.
