I unfortunately don't have the error in the log any more but after a great deal of searching all the logs, I found a section in GBPVR.log where it would begin initializing the MVP that connected and then throw an exception for .... ICSharp 0.500. If you are having this error, check in the GBPVR.log right after it initializes your MVP.

Alas, after getting almost everything working I still had to revert back to 96.12 since CDK scheduler seems to be hopelessly broken and wanting different libraries than the standard GBPVR ones. I even tried to mix different versions of XRecord (the plugins only work from the previous version, in the new one they are lookig for the wrong dlls) in an attempt to make it work but got stuck on an illegal cast error.

Not to hijack this thread but the MVP issue was solved by replacing the ICSharp dll. The only reason I reverted back 2 versions of GBPVR was because I had made a backup of a 96.12 system with a working CDK Scheduler.

Because of the way my network is set up, I've always had trouble with the GBPVR loading applications on my MVP D3A boxes but the easiest solution I've found is:

1) Start GBPVR and the GBPVR MediaMVP programs
2) Power off and unplug the failing MVP box for 5 seconds
3) Start both the hauppauge services (make sure the Dongle.bin is the same one you want to use with the GBPVR software). I usually start the MVPMedia service followed by the MVPMediaSvc service.
4) Plug the box back in and turn it on
5) Leave the box alone until you see the Hauppage MediaMVP software load and start (this is the one with the 5 simple boxes for music, video, pictures, etc)
6) Turn off the MVP box using the remote
7) Stop the MVP services in this order: MVPMediaSvc then MVPMedia
8) Turn the MVP box back on

When you turn the box on the second time, it will load the GBPVR software instead of the Hauppauge software. Because of the way I have my network setup, the tftp server in GBPVR does not load the dongle as well as the Hauppauge software and I can never get past that screen unless I use the above steps. Once I have let the Hauppauge software load, I've found that I never need to do these steps again as long as the box stays plugged in. Each time within a few seconds it will quickly connect to GBPVR.

I hope this helps you.

Hopefully sub has solved this inthe next version, but I notice there is a ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.dll in C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr and another in C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\web\bin. The first is v0.5.0.0 and the second 0.84.0.0. I use EWA so maybe that installed the second.

Let's hope the Xrecord guys get to this one.

gexi/jksmurf,

I have this issue also, out of the blue my MVP/s will sit at contacting servers until I restart GBPVR. I haven't seen anything in the logs. So do I copy the one out of the bin directory to the root to resolve?

In my case the server never connected to GBPVR so if you are able to connect after restarting GBPVR, I would not replace the library.

Instead, make sure the GB-PVR MediaMVP Server is running. I have 2 MVP boxes and have the same number set to start in the GBPVR config. In addition, I have the GB-PVR MediaMVP Server in my Startup. If I don't have this program started, my box would only connect to GBPVR the first time I used it and I would have to restart GBPVR to establish a connection.

Its not something I've changed for the new release. I've always used v0.5.0.0. If some other plugin is starting to use this DLL, then they should use the same version that is included with the GB-PVR rather than make me change GB-PVR.

Yup....same problem. The MVP will only connect on the control port. I am going through a rehash of what I have installed recently to figure out what program is causing the problem. I think it might have something to do with a print to PDF program I installed called PrimoPDF. Last time this happened I had a very similar program installed called CutePDF. I have uninstalled the program, but I have not gone through the registry to verify it did really uninstall everything.

No it's not. Maybe late this week.
