I was not talking about emulation mode. Does the latest version of your mvpmc dongle.bin support playing VOB's or ISO's natively without transcoding to the MVP ?

As far as what you were explaining on the hardware not being utilized fully, do you think that on the near (or far) future, we could see your dongle.bin or Sub's dongle.bin support things that the MVP cannot do today, such as Closed Captions, subtitles or AC3 decoding ?

What I really evision is that mplayer could be ported to the MVP, being Unix and all, and that dongle.bin was just an image of an mplayer binary that could do all the wonderful things mplayer does today.

May be is not too far fetched ?

I could see the mvpmc being useful as rather that the normal gbpvr emulation mode (vnc like) but yo have say sqllite support and read off the gbpvr database directly, so it's less reliant on the server for doing things and can do more of it itself.

Thanks to sub, who provided me with the information I needed, I was able to get past this! And I also found a really cheap local source for the fm-less pvr 150 ($67 CDN) so it is a good day!

The new v6 beta of SageTV has support for playing DVD 5.1 audio through the new MVPs w/5.1 out.

So it IS technically possible. (Sub Wink )

Yeah, it is technically possible, but I wont be paying the licensing costs required to legally do this, so you're unlikely to ever see it in GB-PVR.

Have you looked into the license?

Can you pay for the license on a per-use basis? (i.e., anytime someone wants to dl GB-PVR with 5.1, they have to pay $10?)

To be honest, I dont want to go down that path. I dont want the added responsibilities and hassle that goes with it.

Martin,

I am able to use the latest dongle from 10/21 successfully. I watched couple episodes via the emulation mode with all the skip ff/rw, pause, volume functions all working normally. I don't see the OSD overlay screen with this dongle. The best part of all is that I am able to connect GBPVR server and ReplayTV from one MVP.

Thanks for the great work on improving the mvpmc dongle.

Can you explain your setup a bit more and what benefits over running just GBPVR you get?

Thanks,
Dan

mvpmc is the dongle that allows the MVP to connect the MythTV, ReplayTV and GBPVR. I happen to have ReplayTV and been using GBPVR for a while. I have to load the Hauppage dongle to connect to GBPVR, and load the mvpmc dongle to connect to ReplayTV. Now I only need to load one dongle to connect to both systems.
