NVidia stated that they are not updating PureVideo to use DXVA2. Instead they implemented PureVideo HD for DXVA2 at the driver level and are leaving it up to other decoder programmers to implement PureVideo HD support in their decoders.

i have already said this in another thread
the hardware/software has to be upto date
nvidia card has to be a 8xxx or a 7xxx and the hd decoder is built into the driver i beleive
im thinking that if your card is below these then evr is a waste of time if you want to make use of your hardware (video card acceleration)
its not going to work no matter what the decoder is you use

although i see someone had the same result with 2400 they probably will get results if they use a different decoder

EVR actually works well for me with intervideo and geforce 6800. No aspect problems, it looks like it's not overscanned at all though compared to vmr7/9. So with evr I get those static lines on the top, but not on vmr7/9.

While I am using the Intel G965 (IGP) graphics, I'm seeing the same random and obscure aspect ratios with PVRX2.exe, having upgraded from the older 1.0.16 version to this latest one.

The screenshot of the odd aspect ratio that ShiningDragon posted is pretty much identical to my problem. Cycling through the aspect ratios using F7 doesn't help any.

I have a 1680x1050 display (single monitor setup). I realize that given the 16:10 aspect ratio, I will (and do) get small black bands on the top and bottom to get to the 16:9 HDTV ratio, when viewing HD channels. However, with this latest install and using PVRX2.exe with EVR as the renderer of choice, those bands on the top and bottom grow much wider, horizontally compressing the actual 16:9 picture. Note that TV aspect ratio in config.exe was set to 16x9 all throughout.

Moreover, some other HD channels will display in a 'vertically' (from left and right) compressed ratio, making the picture taller than it is wide.

I've attached the logs for reference.

Any ideas / suggestions? Thanks.

Just choose VMR 9 Custom / VMR 9 FSE Mode for PVRX2 within config.

I run the G965 with GMA x3000 graphics at 1600 x 1200 and don't see this problem. The difference might be I'm running Vista Intel drivers 15.6.1

To help me look into this problem, can you guys apply the attached patch. This patches produces more logging information around the EVR renderer setup.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log. Also post a screenshot so I can compare what is on the screen with whats in the logs.

If you press Alt-Enter to switch to window mode while the video is playing, does it still fill the same relative portion of the screen? and when you're in window mode if you drag the corner of the window, does the relative portion stay the same?

Also, does pressing F7 to the "Fill" aspect ratio help?
