Hmmm - I just got my HVR2250 installed this weekend, but haven't recorded any HD shows (haven't figured out how to best map channels.!) Hopefully, I can test this capability soon.

I am seeing this to. It doesn't affect my sd recordings that are an hour but I recorded the Football game this weekend and around about an hour or so in the time line went crazy. It showed something like 23 hrs. Also has any one else noticed that comskip doesn't get run on anything all the recordings when using multirecord?

I'm thinking sub is due back in NZ any time now, and I just know he wants to fix this .ts reader 4gb problem right away. Jet lag is for the weak!

Just tonight though, as I struggled to finish watching a 2 hour recording (which not only crosses the 4GB barrier, it also crosses the 8GB point were things get a little extra dose of wierdness), I started wondering why I still use the ts-mux anyway? I began using it because it was somewhat faster to change channels when using time-shift mode. But I ultimately gave up on that for various reasons and went back to Live Preview mode.

The only other good reason I know of to use the ts-mux is for Multi-record, which really is of no use for me as I use ATSC. So why don't I just use DVR-MS or the ATI Mux? I dunno... I guess I'm tired of discovering the various gotcha's with the different muxes, decoders, renderers, readers, splitters, etc.

I got back on Tuesday. Give the attached patch a go and let me know how you get on.

Is this issue and patch at all applicable to TS captured from the firewire port on my STB? Does GBPVR have any "built-in" capability to handle these streams? I'm currently using the GraphRecorder plug in to capture with a graph that demuxes and remuxes to PS (I guess). I'd be interested in something simpler, if possible with GBPVR, i.e., playback the TS natively.

The patch will help with the playback of large .ts files. In theory you should be able to configure GraphRecorder to capture .ts files, and these should playback fine in GB-PVR (assuming your STB produces normal transport stream data over its firewire port).

That might be a big assumption considering the vagaries of US cable companies. Anyway, I'll set up a graph to just capture the stream (capture device -> TS parser -> file writer) and see what happens. I'm still on 1.2.13 and it did not play the TS files reliably, perhaps 1 in 5 or 10 would play. I'll probably have to do the 1.3.7 upgrade first, and then install this patch. Or are there no changes in 1.3.7 + patch that would affect the TS file playback?

Thanks.

There was a lot of .ts playback improvements in 1.3.7. Its much better at it than any previous release, so probably worth using this if you intend to do .ts stuff.
