This worked for me:

I mapped the green button on my remote the following way

GRNPOWER={run(H:\Progra~1\GB-PVR\GBPVR.exe)}

Since launching the executable more than once just causes the application to be brought to front, I just hit this button when the application does not respond to the remote control clicks, and GB-PVR is back on top where it belongs Smile

I really want to get this working as its been driving the family nuts lately. They forget just how lucky they are to have GB-PVR at all.

We use the computer a lot while we are watching GB-PVR shows so we have to constantly have the person who is using the computer stop what they are doing so that the person with the 45 button remote can take focus to select shows and skip commercials. My computer monitor setup has the extended desktop setting with the left monitor as my regular monitor and the right monitor for the TV.

I've done the steps outlined in this post and have the modified irremote.ini and the latest hauppauge remote software, but I just can't get GB-PVR to work with the remote unless it has the focus.

Also, now when the focus is on the left monitor and not on GB-PVR, the remote scrolls the webpage that I have up on the computer by using the arrow buttons which seems strange. Actually the remote buttons do all kinds of crazy things to the webpage now.

Is the direct access to hauppauge remote option in GB-PVR config still just for the old remotes?

Are other people able to get GB-PVR working in the background with the remote so that focus is not an issue?

Thanks

Maybe someone can confirm this, but I think you can get the USB-UIRT to work as an input device even though gbpvr doesn't have focus?

Yes, and unlikely to ever change in the future. The method I used was only available with the PVR250/350 hardware.

try my handy dandy little starter upper...tho it only works if you set it as green button action in irremote.ini like this..
[in the [Default] section at top..make sure no other one exists either till next section]

[Default]
GRNPOWER={run(c:\progra~1\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvrun.exe)}

and all will work...
check here for file and explaination...i never have to worry about having focus ever with just the remote..

Hey pBS,

I can't get this to work with your file and modification.

I downloaded your gbpvrun.exe file and put it in the gbpvr directory.

I modified the irremote.ini by changing the grnpower statement to have the gbpvrun.exe in place of gbpvr.exe.

Everything seems to run exactly the same as before with having to have focus for using the remote.

Is there anything else your doing or possibly something different with your setup that you might have changed?

Has anyone else been able to get your setup to work? Any ideas?

Thanks

I just got my USB-UIRT installed and got it working. It does work in the background without focus - Woohoo!.

However, the bad part is that its really not working very good as GB-PVR is at times very slow to respond and sometimes doesn't even respond although I can see that the LED on the receiver saw my button push from my remote using the exact same button that was just previously working. Its like it lags sometimes but not always, and if it lags too long on one button, it forgets about doing it but it might do it after another couple pushes and maybe 5-10 seconds later.

After looking through the forum I don't see anyone else having these problems so I'm assuming its in my setup some how.

What would cause this? Any ideas or what I should check?

Thanks

I have not experienced this. Did you have any trouble teaching the remote the codes? Just as a check, you could
a) re-learn your remote
or
b) try another remote (if nothing else, just to rule out the possibility)
