I just finished using the Tuning Assistant. For some reason it didn't scan all of the channels that I have on my cable system. It missed at least twenty channels. It mentioned putting the data into GB-PVR. Not sure how you do that. At present my EPG Source is 'NONE'.

Did you see it try to tune to the channel numbers you thought were missing? Assuming so, but no channels were found where they should exist, this probably means something you've run some software on your machine that has saved overrides to the Microsoft frequency override registry settings.

The tuning assistant asks Windows for the first channel number and the last channel, then asks the device to tune every between these two points (one after another with no gaps).

Sorry I dont follow you. (I dont remember full details of this thread, and wasnt going back to read the other pages. I was just addressing the specific issue listed at the top of this page - see quoted text)

This specific thing wouldnt have any impact on his ability to watch live tv. The worst that would happen is he'd see with this specific item is a channel other than what he expected, or static instead of a picture. It wouldnt stop him getting a tuner.

his basic problem is that when he select a program to watch it comes back with
no tuner available ....
i was wondering if what you said "run some software on your machine that has saved overrides to the Microsoft frequency override registry settings"

and if so what would he do to set them back to what they should be

Nah, that frequency override thing wont be the cause of this 'no tuner available', it just means he might get static on those missing channels (or it'd stay on the last tuned channel if it was past the max channel number for his country tuning type).

Quote:As to the TV channel setup, the TV Guide in GB-PVR doesn't show the numbers but just the station call letters. However, in PVRX2, the Guide shows both the channel numbers and the station call letters.
This is normal. This used to be slight different in the old zap2it days.

Just use PVRX2.

AllenRM, can you reproduce the 'no tuners available' problem in PVRX2, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

There is only one useful set of logs in this thread, but it doesnt clearly show your attempt to do this. It also attempted to do it in GBPVR.exe which I'm not really supporting anymore, so it'd be worth getting another set of logs but this time for PVRX2.

Sub,

Just reproduced the "no tuners available" message in PVRX2. I've attached the logs. One thing I did notice is that the channel numbers that showed up in the TVGuide in PVRX2 were not the same as the ones I added manually in the config app. (In the past the numbers in PVRX2 did correspond to my Comcast lineup.) I had to add the channels manually because I couldn't get any data from SD. My subscription may have expired. The expiration date was 10/14, today. I had thought that it would happen at the end of the day, like maybe midnight but they may have canceled early although I didn't see any indication of that when I visited their web site a short time ago.
