Anyway, genius! It now works Big Grin. Well done and thank you. I'll email a beer.

cool im not the best at explaining things
good to see you got it going though

i use nvidia pure video just to confuse you some more Smile

but the mpv one is pretty fail safe to get it up and going

i just asked about the video card cause that was next if it still didnt work but dont have to worry now
the intel cards are as good as anything as far as mpeg playback goes

Now that I have completed the proving stage there will be a bit of a lull until I get the antenna and network wiring permanently installed.

Thinking ahead, I was wondering if I add a second satellite reciever PCI card at a later stage, should it be the same make and model as the first? Would this simplify setup and avoid potential codec and mux conflicts?

the only difference is they will use the same driver so from memory you have to call them device#1 and device#2 where as if they are different you just add it like you added this one
as far as mux etc i dont think it makes any difference you might find out which card is better though if you buy a second card that is different
the only thing with digital recording is that your cpu gets used more i think so this can limit the quality of the recording (dropped frames and errors)
