Yes, special chars need to be replaced with a space, even if they are at the end of a name.

I tried that. It doesn't show the picture for the premiere or the repeat shows if you add the space at the end. Without the space, it will show the pictures for the repeat airings, but not the premieres.

It does the same for "The Colbert Report". The pop-up for the premiere doesn't show the picture, but it does for the repeats.

I haven't tried changing the character displayed next to the premieres. Won't that just mean I'll have to have two copies of each picture, one named "Show Name.jpg" and one "Show Namep.jpg"?

one named 'The show name.jpg' and one named 'The show name .jpg' (two spaces before .jpg)

This allows the premiers to have the picture as well (star gets changed to space when converted through TVListings)
Thanks Carlito!
I remembered that X-Record needed a single trailing space and I was hoping it was something simple like this!

Thanks! I’ll add a FAQ with this information to the I-xmltv thread if needed.
Hey, I really hate asking for changes in someone else’s utility or plugin if it’s something I can take care of on my end. But since I plan on using this when I upgrade, and this is early in the game, I’ll take the chance! Smile
Would it be possible to remove the special characters and trailing spaces instead of replacing them with spaces? I’m just thinking about consistency between all the different plugins, & GBPVR.

When GBPVR saves a filename, special characters and all trailing spaces behind the last usable character are removed. IE: M*A*S*H" & "M*A*S*H *" = "MASH."

X-Record also “removes” special characters, but does not remove trailing spaces so a second copy of the artwork is needed, but only for premieres.
"M*A*S*H *" = "MASH ."

TV Listings replaces them with a space, & doesn't remove trailing spaces, so a third & forth art copy would be needed for premiere’s, and anything else that has a special character(s) in the name.
"M*A*S*H" = "M A S H."
"M*A*S*H *" = "M A S H ." <edit> two spaces will not post for some reason?<end edit>

I can't recall how VideoArchiver handles special characters. I’d need to ask Jeff on that one. But hopefully not another copy of the artwork.

Hope my request is reasonable and understandable?
I wouldn’t normally ask, but we could end up with 4 or 5 copies of the same artwork if several plugins are installed.

PS. Is a “MPV friendly Genre search” something being considered for the future?
If there’s anything I can do to more closely align I-xmltv with your plugin, don’t hesitate to ask!

Yes, but like this example.
"Show Name P.jpg"

I don’t want to sidetrack the TV Listings thread by answering I-xmltv questions here. But feel free to post anything that relates to its use with TV Listings in the I-xmltv thread.
Thanks

Hi,

Jim_ Wrote:When GBPVR saves a filename, special characters and all trailing spaces behind the last usable character are removed. IE: M*A*S*H" & "M*A*S*H *" = "MASH."

if I'll change that in the next release of the plugin, I think I will do it the above way (remove invalid filename chars, and trim the string afterwards). I will mention that in the changelog then.

Jim_ Wrote:PS. Is a “MPV friendly Genre search” something being considered for the future?

Sorry, what does "MPV friendly Genre search" mean?

That sounds perfect, thanks!

I just meant searching for shows by selecting their genre from a list (like the A-Z,1-0 scrolling list), while using the Hauppauge remote and MPV. The EWA has a genre search feature, but you have to be at the computer to use it.Sad

I'm installing 98.8 now, so I should have TV Listings installed shortly.Smile

I just installed TV Listings and it looks very nice!
Using v96.12 until just now, I didn’t realize that TV Listings already had a form of genre search built in. Sorry for my confusing question in the previous post, it may already do what I was looking for.

Hi,

boko Wrote:<channel id="tf1.fr">
<display-name lang="fr">TF1</display-name>
<icon src="http://www.lyngsat-logo.com/icon/tv/tt/tf1.gif" />
</channel>

This icon element is the url to the channel logo, and has nothing to do with the icons that are used to build up the icon dictionary. The xmltvicons utitlity looks for icons that are stored inside the <programme> element, the correct format is decribed here.

boko Wrote:can i make manually the icondictionary ? how to?

If your epg source doesn't create icon-tags for programmes, you can use an additional directory and manually put images for your favourite programmes there. The way it works is described under "Configuration" on the wiki-page.

Hi Alibert,
TV Listings has been working great since I installed it last weekend. No problems to report at all, and its been my default Guide for a few days now.

I also wanted to let you know that I found a way to “genre search” using the features you already have. So please don’t go to any extra effort on my account, everything’s working fine.
After adding a “Genre Channel” to my epg, doing a “find more” + “by genre” allows me to search for / display the genre’s I’m interested in, using the MPV.
Very nice plugin, thanks again for sharing it! Smile
