Yeah, I wasn't worried too much about this issue. I just mentioned it before someone posted that it wasn't working. Smile

sub Wrote:Hardware acceleration is not possible with EVR under XP since XP doesnt support DVXA2. For this reason EVR is mainly a feature that will be useful to Vista users. That said, I'm sure there are some people running dedicated setups arent concerned whether its using hardware acceleration or not, in which case EVR can still add quite a lot (better colours, smoother playback etc).

thanks sub

as much as it pisses me off
i dont know the ins and outs but from where im sitting looks like a load bs to make use buy new hardware/software
here is how i see it if the hardware will run vista(all be it not as fast as would be ideal)
then its a software issue (windows/vista)
then that would mean that if they release a xp version of what ever is needed it would work
i knew it would get to a point where i would be forced into vista but didnt think it would be so soon

Whurlston,

Thanks, that fixed me up.

I still don't get the OSD for Restart/Resume.

I understand the frustration, but there isnt much I can really do about it. GB-PVR just has to live within the limitations of these video renderers.

You're right that Microsoft could have retrofitted these features to XP if they had wanted to, but obviously they need to have some advantages for the never versions of their operating system. In their defense, DXVA2 and EVR was created as part of the Vista project, and was only ever intended to be available on Vista.

Should this (along with the attached ZIP) be added to the survival guide?

Thanks for the EVR.dll. Works a treat in XP setup. Picture quality seems OK....what is it exactly that isn't being hardware accelerated??

Unfortunately, no DVDs will play in EVR for some reason. I am now betting whether I will EVR or FSE exclusive completely working first Big Grin

intervideo 8 decoder with evr on xp 2800 sempron only 11-15% cpu usage that would say to me the video card is using acceleration
ati 2400 video card (trying it again after my first attempt)
more testing to be done but just thought i would see what people thought

with nvidia pure video it was 50-60% on the same video

Decoding in general, but for me the most visible difference is the advanced pixel-adaptive deinterlacing the Nvidia Purevideo mpeg2 codec does in VMR - the difference between that and what I get with EVR is night and day. EVR looks 'computery', PV codec looks 'liquid' and completely transparent.
GBPVR System:
XP Pro SP2, AMD XP1800+, 512MB DDR, NVidia 6200 AGP (1.90.62 drivers), PVR-150 (2.0.43.24108 drivers), nVidia Purevideo Mpeg2 codec, PVRX2 1.4.7
