Is it possible to enter * in the “Search Text:” field with the MPV remote?

At the computer in the “Search Guide” menu I can type and search for “*”.
Is there a way to enter a special character like this using only the MPV remote?

I was thinking about adding star ratings (***+) to the beginning of movie titles.

No, unfortunately there is no keyboard emulation for the this text field. This field is only really useful if you're using a keyboard.

Would it be possible to include * along with A-Z & 0-9 in the next version?
It sure would make searching for movies easy.

Hi sub,
Incase you decide to add this feature.
I've attached a zip containing two xmltv files for you to test with. One has stars at the beginning of the movie title, the other has the stars at the end.

If possible.
It would be very nice if the search function could search anywhere in the title when “*” is selected. I believe the way it works now, the star-rating would need to be at the beginning of the title.
