I seem to remember there is some trick to it with multiple ATI 550 cards.

Try setting <AutoDetectEncoderMethod>0</AutoDetectEncoderMethod> in config.xml

Device numbers should be set to #1 and #2.

Edit. it seems to be working now.. both files are indicating file size change.. now lets just wait another 8 mins to see if both of them have any video and sound and not just snow.. :p

we seem to run into a slight problem now..


Live TV. the description of the channel does change. but the channel itself seems to remain on the same channel it opened as..

and i lost sound.

back to square 1..

first capture source records a show..

second captpre source gets 0kb file.. >_<




live tv works when TV Wonder Elite is set to Cap 1 and Theatrix is set to cap 2..

with
<AutoDetectEncoderMethod>2</AutoDetectEncoderMethod>

but when recording the show. only 1 capture device works..

when i use <AutoDetectEncoderMethod>0</AutoDetectEncoderMethod>
1 still works. but its either getting the wrong channel.. or getting the wrong channel and theres no sound being recorded.. and live tv is stuck on 1 channel.

Usually, a 0kb file size means that a specific capture source isn't setup correctly.
And try to reverse the capture source numbers (i.e. if you had the Sapphire as #1 and the TVWonder as #2 - then set them to Sapphire #2 and TVWonder #1).

Other tests - Can you get each one to record if they are plugged separately in the computer? (i.e. with the other card not connected).

Regarding snow - did you set the source channel numbers in both of the capture sources? You need to do this even if they are the same card. GBPVR doesn't know that you plugged them to the same RF source...

BTW, the answer ro your question about CPU power is - Can't be a problem. The maximum CPU usage you would see on an AthlonXP 1600 with both cards recording is probably in the range of 5%-15% CPU usage. The only thing the CPU needs to do is take 2 MPEG streams and write them to 2 different files on the harddisk.

well it worked yesterday. dont think anything has changed from yesterday till now.. i tried recording a 2 hour show.. it ended up recording a completely different channel.. it was 2 hours tho.. and the channel was set right. so i dont know why it recorded a different channel.

cap source originally was sapphire #1 and Tv Wonder Elite was #2.. Live TV gave the snow effect. right now its the opposite. TV Wonder is #1 and Sapphire is #2

I set up both capture source (at least i think it was set up for both the cards.)

yesterday when sub told me to change to
<AutoDetectEncoderMethod>0</AutoDetectEncoderMethod> in the config.xml thing. it worked for a bit.. dont know when i stopped working cause i was sleeping by then.

right now i'm running tests and 1 is recording while the second one is shows its recording. but when i looked @ both the files.. the first one is there. and everytime i refresh the page is shows the files size is changing.. increasing. the second file is simply not there.

and usually when this happens. after it finishes recording. it shows a 0kb file size.


oh yeah. thought i mention this as well.

when i'm recording.. just say channel 2 and channel 5..
cap 1 = should be recording channel 5 and cap 2 should be recording channel 2...

but. after it records.. i checked.. the channel 2 file. the first bit of it shows another channel with no sound. then all of the sudden switches to channel 5 and records channel 5 instead of 2 as its suppose to.

so channel 2 isnt being recorded for some reason.
