I have a 2.0ghz pentium 4 with 512mb of ram with a clean install of windows xp sp2. I also have the latest video drivers for my radeon 7000, and the latest drivers for my pvr-150 tv tuner card. I also have ms .net framework v2.0 installed, and of course GB-PVR v0.97.7 is installed. I am using an external directv tuner box connected to the svideo input of the pvr-150. GB-PVR works perfectly how I want it for a small period of time. After 15 seconds - 2 minutes the computer bluescreens and the computer reboots. I have tried 10 times, and still no success. Any ideas? This is very discouraging since GB-PVR would work perfectly otherwise.

I would run memtest to make sure my RAM is all good.

Check for heat on your CPU or GPU as that can cause the machine to reboot.

Try Omega drivers perhaps?

The computer works perfectly fine playing games. Also I should note that 1 time out of the 10 times I tried it and the processor didn't reset, just the program GB-PVR crashed with a debug message. The other times the computer rebooted. So the problem is definitely with GB-PVR. What log file should I be looking at?

If your machine reboot, then problem is almost certainly occurring within a driver, probably the PVR150 drivers. Could also be your motherboard chipset driver.

Which pvr150 drivers should I use? Also, I just installed the newest radeon omega drivers, so I am going to see if that helps.

I reinstalled all the drivers, all drivers are the newest possible, and it still blue screens and resets after a certain amount of time. I updated the chipset drivers to the drivers from the motherboard manufactorer's website instead of the built in windows drivers, still no luck. It looks like I'm not going to be able to use gb-pvr. Mediaportal may work, but it probably won't work with my pvr-150 ir blaster :/ Also I should mention that crashes happen when I am watching livetv without changing the channel.

I would try moving the pvr150 to another pci-slot. You wouldn't have in the slot next to the videocard? I heard a lot of problems about irq's with those 2 slots.

To be honest, I suspect you'll see the same problems in other apps that use the same devices.

Could someone else with a pvr-150 tell me what drivers work for them? I am using the latest drivers from the hauppauge website. Also your right about it not working in other applications either, I tried with mediaportal and after a few minutes the video freezes. Could it be that I am using tv-out only on my radeon 7000 ve card? Its strange though because in mediaportal the computer does not reboot, just the program crashes.

I'm not sure this information will help you. I've tried pretty much every PVR150 driver, and none have caused reboots. Problems like you describe are very rare. I suspect its some sort of hardware conflict with something else in your machine, or possibly a general system instability (memory, MB chipset, power etc).

I do suggest trying the latest drivers from http://www.shspvr.com/smf though.

Could be. Its worth trying all sorts of things to work out what is happening, including disabling the tv out to see if it helps.
