I'm having issues also. My gui crashes periodically since upgrading to SQLite. I get the standard 'Windows encountered a problem and the program must shutdown' error. I can restart the gui and all is fine for a while. I checked my logs but couldn't find much going on although I'm no expert when it comes to checking them. If someone could check mine I would be most appreciative!

The last crash happened around 20:30 5/31/06...

Also check your XP system and application logs with event viewer.

Gee. Forgot all about that one. Thanks.

Well I've found a few errors, all of which are NET Runtime 2.0 Errors. The one that apparently brought the gui down was a system.outofmemoryexception.

The most recent, which I discovered trying to watch live tv and found it couldn't connect to the recording service was an error involving gbpvrrecordingservice.exe

Looking through the logs, I also see a couple for gbpvr.exe, and another couple for gbpvrrecordingservice.exe. These all occurred yesterday and today. Yesterday I switched to SQLite DB and also did a repair install.

Any ideas on what I can try to improve the stability of my box?

You logs do contain an interesting SQLite error, but I would have expected this to cause GB-PVR to exit. I dont suppose you remember the exact sequence of events to generate this error?

What plugins do you have installed?

Do you notice the memory continually creaping up if you monitor it in perfmon or the Windows Task Manager?

Unfortunately no, but I can say that this happened after I restarted the GBPvr GUI. I did watch at least one recording around this time.

I've got a good many plugins installed. These include XRecord, UbuStream (list mode only), Weather, News Feeds, and Video Archive.

I never really noticed anything odd with the memory previously. I don't really monitor it though. Of the 512megs I have available (physical ram), I see that Task Manager is showing around 215megs available as the system sits idle right now.

Can you give any details on the 'housekeeping' update release that you are planning soon? What fixes are included?

Thanks for your help.

The move to .net 2.0 is pretty significant. One of the plugins or something in GB-PVR may not like something about .net 2.0, even if it was fine with .net 1.1.

I'll probably be posting a download link for it in the next day or so. It includes about a dozen or so fixes, most of which have already been posted here as patches. Unfortunately nothing I could directly attribute to the problem you describe above.

Now the recording service is dying with frequency:

Quote:Event Type: Error
Event Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting
Event Category: None
Event ID: 5000
Date: 6/1/2006
Time: 4:19:19 PM
User: N/A
Computer: MEDIA
Description:
EventType clr20r3, P1 gbpvrrecordingservice.exe, P2 1.0.2325.30010, P3 15, P4 system, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 4333ae87, P7 2bb9, P8 17, P9 system.net.sockets.socket, P10 NIL.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

If you could check my logs (again) I would appreciate any direction you can give. I see that the last thing the recording service logged was it checking all the programs, and then seconds later it died.

Thanks for the help... as always!

Video Archive for me was crashing GB-PVR. Move the .dll file from the plugins directory and see if your problem goes away?
