I suspect the problems jelder is having are related to the general skip/ffwd issues which some users are having, rather than the being the same thing as Paulp33 is describing, which I too have had.

I will do some proper testing when I get home tonight, but basically if I leave the MVP for a while and come back to it, I can get rid of the screensaver and move up and down the menu, but as soon as I select a main menu item the MVP resets, and on restart cannot play files from my audio or video library (no response with audio files, mpg files just displays a black screen).  If I then soft-power-cycle the MVP, it restarts, but the displayed main menu screen doesn't respond to any inputs, and I have to restart the MVP service.

As I said, I'll do a bit more testing tonight, and on the computer rather than the MVP in case error messages pop up, I'll also try disabling the capture source, and I haven't actually installed the PVR card yet, but have it enabled so I can check the TV listings/might try installing a previous version or getting rid of my skin.

cheers,

Simon

This has been correct for the next release.

Thanks - that's great - I'll just leave it for now then.

I have a 350 card, using the output of it to the tv, and just playing back it will freeze, and then the output of the card will stop responding. If i try to get back to the menu, it will show on the computer monitor that it DID go back to the menu, but the output of the card is still on the last frozen frame of video. Sometimes just a program restart will get it working, but sometimes it hoses the card, and i need to reboot.

The card works great with the WinTV app, and ive had to resort to using the WinTV app to playback the files CB-PVR records.

The freezing is very random, ive had it where it would work for 2-10 min max, and then freeze, needing a program restart. Dont even have to be shuttling the video (FF/REW). it will freeze on its own.

If i leave the program alone and running just in the menu, it will do all the recording without a problem.

I was reading some of the previous posts in this thread, and moved the card to a seprate IRQ to make sure that wasn't it.

Its like im almost there... You might want to consider putting in user selectable debug controls like, disable OSD when playing video, just to narrow down the problem.

Thanks.

BradSVBC, this wasn't really an appropriate place to post you question. The rest of this discussion is about a couple of problems with the MVP, yours relates to you PVR350 tv out freezing. Anyway, take a look at:

I'll do some more playing around to pin it down, but even with the new .2 version, I had the MVP reset when I went into the TV Guide menu tonight, and after restarting would not play audio or video - needed restart of service.

As I said, I will see if I can replicate this, and I think it may have taken longer than it usually does, but it definitely looks like the same problem.

Yep, I'm afraid I still have the same fault as previously - everything is fine at first, but after a while I choose a menu item and the mvp just resets. Once it refinds a server, choosing an audio track doesn't do anything, and selecting a video track results in a black screen from which you cannot exit except by powering down the mvp and on restart, the main menu is frozen, requiring a restart of the mvp server.

I will send you the log files sub - looking at them, the initial error is listed as:

[b Wrote:Quote[/b] ]ERROR [44] handleMVPConnection() exception: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine
23/08/2004 8:48:51 p.m..974 VERBOSE [44]   at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.Send(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size, SocketFlags socketFlags)

Unfortunately the error from the log is a quite generic error. Effectively its just saying that the MVP decided to shut the connection. The difficult bit is working out why the MVP shut the connection.

What sort of thing prior to this error? What menu item did you choose?

We need to try and spot the pattern. Even though it may seems like there is no pattern, there is - and if we can find it, I can fix it.

I tried 0.2 last night and found the ff/rw/play keys to be much faster to respond and did not cause a crash. The skip buttons were still a little slow (it took one to five seconds to respond). Since i tried 0.19 and had problems I have upgraded my CPU (cel 1.7 to P4 2.4) and changed my RAM (from two sticks of 256 to one of 512). I don't know if this will have contributed?
