I have a Hauppaugge Nova T PCI and a MVP and it's working ok. Recording, playback etc.... So much so that I've now got WAF :-) [Live TV playback is not really useable ... but that's not so important]

She is so impressed that she wants to be able to listen to UK Radio stations. I am stuggling to find anything on Shoutcast that she recognises and will listen to. She knows that the tuner card can get 'freeview' digital radio stations ..... and has 'demanded' that she be able to listen to them via the MVP.

Please help me out guys ..... how do I do this? Is there a plugin that will bring just the radio channels to the MVP? Or do I need to do something clever with the basic setup?

Cheers

Now if I had a pound for everytime you've promised us that...I'd have a few quid, at least. Smile Us radio fans will get to you in the end.

If I had the time I'd try and work out why I couldn't get the MPEG2 demux. filter to hook up programatically in the DVB-T radio app. that I started writing. It all worked fine in GraphEdit and I could get the Nova filters to connect programatically but not the mpeg2 demux. Oh well.

Benz - I'm told that it is possible to record DVB-T radio but I think you have to post-process the resultant mpg file to extract the audio. It doesn't work at all for me with the dvr-ms option enabled (0KB files) but I've had some success using the Cyberlink mux. - it records something but playback is jumpy/hiccups/pops. I haven't tried post-processing the results though. Do a search on the forums - there have been a few mentions of people managing to record OK - I don't think anyone has got it to work 'live' through the MVP though.

I managed a convoluted hook-up using WinAmp, a couple of its plugins and a localhost Shoutcast server to stream BBC radio to my MVP. Seriously Heath-Robinson though and it didn't work that well.

Cheers,
Brian

Can you currently 'watch' a DVB radio station?

Another approach (might solve the WAF prob): I've recently written an "addin" (its not quite posh enough to be a pluginSmile) that lets you define regular internet TV and radio streams as GBPVR channels. See:

New utility - adds web stream TV channels to GBPVR and

UbuStreamCmd - tips, caveats and disclaimers

I'm an ex-pat Brit living in the US and I miss listening to the beeb and UK radio in general. Now I can do this using GBPVR as my tuner (doesn't even use my capture card, just my broadband connection). Most of the BBC stations and a surprisingly large number of other UK stations broadcast on the internet using either Windows Media or RealPlayer streams. www.radiofeeds.co.uk has a fairly comprehensive list.

As a bonus, you'll be able to listen to my local station KQED in California or check up on our antipodean pals on Radio New Zealand International

Interesting. I Just tried BBC 7 at my PC - the screen is just a black window but the audio seems fine (live preview mode). On my STB at my TV the channel shows a still picture with a 'what's playing now' type of info.

If I try it on the MVP with the Cyberlink mux - it works up to a point but the audio hops and skips. If I try with the dvr-ms mux I get a debug assertion failure in atlcomcli.h at line 148...p!=0

Depends. Since players like Windows Media and RealPlayer cannot record the stream for you, watching them in timeshift mode won't work. Other players (VLC, mplayer) can record so, in theory, could work in timeshift mode and therefore on an MVP. I don't have an MVP (I use a 5.8ghz wireless A/V link instead) and have yet to test UbuStreamCmd in timeshift mode. It's certainly an issue - it seems like there's lots of GBPVR users who have MVP boxes.

I just found this thread to see if there was a way to convert a DVB audio recording to Mp3. I hadn't realised that DVB radio was not supported but had last night succesfully recorded a radio programme. It plays back perfectly on both my MVP and my PC, using either Winamp, Windows Media Player or Power DVD, without any problems. What I would really like do is convert it to MP3 so I can play programmes back in my car. Is there any software around to do this. (Sorry if this question should not be in the Support section)

This morning I checked to see if you could 'watch' live radio and the answer is 'no'. It locks into a loop of sound from the radio of about 2 seconds and you then have to restart GBPR Media MVP server to escape from it.

i use the FM radio input from my PVR 500 as the source to the winamp shoutcast application, i can then stream to my local networked mp3 players or to the MVP via GBPVR. Its Ok as long as you don't really change channels very often. This is for WAF. So setting up a local shoutcast server was quite easy.

Longer term, i'm waiting for the SSrecorder plugin to be updated to allow Radio channels to be selected. It works great for the TV. i use it for UK freesat channels here in Ireland.

Some internet radio stations are quite often only mono and/or very high compression rates, so bad audio quality.
