Ok, I've searched the forums, done the google thing, switched settings in gbpvr back and forth for over a week now. I'm stumped. HELP!

First some background. I have installed the PVR-350 in a Sony PC that has a mid-grade video card (intel onboard). I'm using it to replace my Tivo unit which got fried in an electrical storm and Tivo no longer offers the life-time programming (but that's another story). I'm new to this PVR stuff but have decent PC skills. I first tried BeyondTV, then SageTV and now GBPVR. I like GBPVR because of the cool plug-ins, skins, etc.

The problem I'm having is I don't get any on-screen menus on the TV-OUT. For example I can't navigate The "Live TV, Recording, etc" menu because it doesn't show up on the TV (I can on the pc). When I play a recorded show and press pause, ffwd, etc I get a light blue box on the TV screen (about 1/3 the size of the TV) but no on screen information. btw - This same light blue box appears on the TV when I have nothing playing (So my assumption is that is what is being rendered as the menu).

When I had SageTV installed I got full menu on the TV, so I know it can work. I can get recordings to play on the TV from no problem, but the menu structure is only showing on the PC. I don't want to have to have a PC monitor up and running next to the TV just to navigate the menus.

Any suggestions? Thanks Chris

You wouldn't have any other mvp-software/services running like: hauppauge or sage etc?

None that I can tell, but I'll dig around and see. I've removed BeyondTV, I'll delete SageTV now - but nothing showing in the tray. thanks for the tip

Afaik in gbpvr you can't have both at the same time: tv-out via the 350 and the same view on the pc-monitor. Did you choose hardware-decoder in config-playback?

The Video doesn't show on the PC, it only shows on the TV. I get the "press home" message on the PC when playing a video. I do have hardware-decoder selected. What I don't get is the menus on the TV so I can use the remote to select from the tv guide, etc. That only shows on the PC.

Sorry I don't know. I do have a 350 but I don't use the tv-out of it anymore. I guess you know sub isn't supporting the 350 anymore because of all the problems people (not everybody) had that couldn't be solved.
There are still people enjoying the fabulous tv-out quality ofthe 350.Smile Sad

Thanks for trying. I didn't realize that the 350 was being de-supported. I've read that the output from the 350 is one of the best (that's why I bought it). I guess I can keep pluging away at it and if I can't get it work I'll have to buy another video card. One last question - what card do you use with your 350?

I use a MVP. I have the computer upstairs and there I can watch through the monitor, but that hardley ever happens. So I'm not really concerned about the quality on my monitor. For videocard advice search the forum, there has been quite alot of discussion on that subject.
Good luck

This was my issue when I was using a TV. Make sure to select Hardware in the Playback tab in Config.exe.

Well, I just upgraded to the 98.08 and that fixed the issue of not seeing any menu overlays on the tv (the light blue boxes). Now things appear much better. I can actually operate without the PC monitor on. In a couple hours of testing, It seems to function 200% better. I still get the odd time the 350 tv-out appears to just lock up (3 times in 2 hours) with a solid green or striped red screen. A quick reset of GBPVR and the card seems to resets itself. I guess I just keep plugging away. Thanks
