Remote just stopped working!!??

I was looking in the Misc section in config, accidentally selected MCE Remote and clicked back and ever since the remote control (Hauppauge) just doesn't work! USB-UIRT flashes when I aim it at that, so it isn't dead. Batteries ok. Plug for Hauppauge remote receiver ok, tried all combinations of ir.exe on/off 'use direct access...' to no avail and checked in irremote.ini in 'C:\Windows\'. One thought; when you change it to MCE remote, does it look for a different file rather than 'irremote.ini', cos it might not be setting back? I've tried replacing 'gbpvr.mdb' with an old backup of a working version (this version of GB-PVR still). Are there any log files that may help me?? The system is rendered dead without the remote!!

OK, that was really odd.. for about two or three days the remote hadn't worked, I remember pressing all the colour buttons on the remote in Live TV to see what they did, and then I did what I said above to see if there were any settings or options. I even 'hcwclear'ed and resinstalled ALL Hauppauge things, and no luck. Anyway, in GB-PVR it wouldn't work still, then I pressed the 'yellow' button.. and it works! Three days! Then yellow and.. fine! I have NO idea.... Hopefully it'll stay working again now.....

However, here is something consistent...
If I change channel, sometimes it's ok (i.e. 6-7 seconds) and then sometimes it appears to freeze (but I always follow my first rule of freezing and wait about two minutes first) and sometimes it comes on after a few minutes and sometimes I get a flicker of sound and a picture change after a few minutes then nothing thereafter. But I can get back out into the menu and back in again, so it's not urgent, just thought it was worth a mention.

Oh and whenever I go into Live TV the sound for the first about 40 milliseconds is at full volume. Is there any way to change this because the TV is near bedrooms and it keeps flashing loud noises!
