Curious if there are any recommendations on how to improve picture quality for LiveTV and Recording. When I view my cable tv direct into my LCD, the picture quality is great. When I view it through my WinTV card, it has light diagonal lines and the color is a bit washed out. It's not terrible, but I'm curious if it could be closer to what I'm seeing in direct from cable.

I know this isn't a GBPVR problem but I'm wondering if there is anyone else who has a Hauppauge 350 which might have some ideas.

You might need an amplifier where your cable comes in.
How many splitters are you running through?
a cheap splitter will cause problems.
A bad connector could be a problem also.
Do you crimp your own?

Tuner cards in my experiance are less sensitive than those on a VCR or TV & require a stronger signal to operate.
And whatever you do, don't use those cheap push on cables that come with VCR's.

This assuming your LCD is your HDTV & not a monitor.

If it is a monitor then your problem is at the end where the TV-out is.
If that is the case then you want to use a sheilded cable there also.

Hmm, tried with the same cable - direct to HDTV vs. direct to computer then VGA to HDTV. Signal from the computer to the HDTV is fine, no diagonal lines or contrast issues. Must be the sensitivity of cable to the WinTV card or settings in the WinTV card itself.

I never got my PVR-500 NTSC tuner working as well as any of my other TV tuners. Audio and video quality were always terrible. This is one main reason I finally pitched NTSC and added an ATSC receiver to my HTPC. ATSC isn't perfect but quality is much better.
