I have several issues lately. I can't even tell if they are all related to the new version or what.
1) I got few BSOD in the last few days. Never had them on this box. Things that have changed recently were mainly the new version, and a new TV that required the PC to display in a larger resolution. I must admit there were other changes (a routing software, a remote PC control). I can't make what is causing it.
2) Several times it failed playing files (even music). Restarting GBPVR usually solves it.
3) We had several issues starting playing recordings while still being recorded. Today (13 Nov, 20:05) we started (tried to) playing a recording that started few minutes before ("Prison Break"). It failed to play (giving an error screen). I tried restart of GBPVR, but it didn't help. Later I checked and saw that the MPG file was zero bytes.
4) What's the story with the screen saver? I just bought a new Plasma screen, which makes it horrific not to have a SS... I tried editing the config.xml manually, same result - no SS.

Your logs have no useful info. You need to reset the logging level to 'debug' then reproduce the problems and repost.

If you look in c:\windows\minidump, there should be a .dmp file for the time the BSOD occurred. Zip and attach it and I'll take a look. Sometimes there is useful info in these files.

If you get a BSOD, reboot or machine lookup, these are usually pretty good sign you've either got something going wrong in a driver, or some other system instability (bad RAM etc).

If it was zero bytes long, then I'm not surprised it had problems playing it. Next time it happens, post the logs again (with debug level).

Ok, I changed it in the config.xml, but why did it disapear from the config app?

I have no "minidump" folder. I now enabled it.

I'll try and reproduce the rest in the coming days.

what about the screen saver? any quick fix or work around?

I'm not sure. Screen saver works fine here. For example, if just I start GB-PVR and leave it at the main menu for a couple of minutes, then my screen saver kicks in.

I remember other ppl complaining here about SS. I also remember you mentioned something about wrong behavior of that checkbox in the config app (this time I edited the XML directly).

And what about the log-level in the config app?

Ah, thats right. Dur to a bug in v0.98.13, the screensaver and splash settings are swapped when they're load in the config app. Just set them both to enabled and you'll be fine.

As I said above, make sure you set it to 'debug' if you're going to post logs. Yours were set to 'info' or 'error', and contained next to no useful information.

Ok, got it - it was set the "Screen Saver" instead of "Simple Screen Saver". Solved.

right, right - I did change it now via the XML file, however, I was asking - what happened to the log level combo in the Config application? I think it used to be in the Misc tab, no?

Silly me! You're absolutely right, and it has been there for a while. What possessed me to insist looking in Misc, I do not know. Maybe the Wiki (hint: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Confi...eous#toc24)

Anyhow, I took the "manual" way and did it in the XML file...
