Not in my case. I had to fall back to Overlay mode when I added HD to my GB-PVR installation (and 6600 card) and on my 61" HDTV the SD video quality is equivalent to VMR9 Custom. Overlay and HD is actually far better video quality than VMR9 Custom and HD, since the latter stuttered unacceptably.

The OSD is another story, but one I can live with.

I guess I'm thankful I was able to get everything working in Overlay when others apparently can't.

After becoming aware of this Full Screen Exclusive stuff I might try another round of VMR tuning, but Overlay is not as terrible as it is often portrayed.

Very cool! Thanks for making this tweak available.

Sub,

Before I begin learning VB.net just to build a workaround...

Is there any way you could add a line of code or two just to tell windows to bring GBPVR to the foreground and repaint following the VideoStop event?

It probably shoud be conditional upon the setting of the FSE flag in config.xml...

You can send me a patch privately to test if you don't want such experimental code in the wild...

I wouldnt waste too much time on it if I were you. I spent a little more time playing with it post v0.98.13, and have totally broken FSE support - it just plays with a totally black screen now. Sorry.

Damn - I was finally getting somewhere

$1500 in hardware and I can't watch HD without ruining the video with tearing and/or jitter.

I guess I'll shell out another $160 on an ATI card and see if it works properly.

Thanks for trying anyway Sub...

I will slowly keep tinkering with the FSE, so it may make an appearance in a future release, but I've already butted my against it enough post-v0.98.13 to know that it wont be in the next release.

That would be appreiciated.

I will continue to use the ALT+TAB trick for the time being, or write the plugin and continue to use 98.13b TFN.

I'm pretty confident that, if you can get the FSE code back to the current 98.13b functionality, and then add a forced repaint of the GUI when video playback stops, it will work okay.

OSD seemed to work perfectly normal.

Put me in the "rolodex" if you need any info or tests done.

Thanks again...

I tried all this sort of stuff at the time. There were a few reason why it wasnt going to be that simple.

The other option to writing code is to program a button on your remote (if you are using one) that will "alt tab". This will fix the problem of focus without learning new code or the plugin interface. I have it set up this way on my HTPC and it works like a champ. Just a thought...
