Hi guys,

I've got the basics of GBPVR up and running and I'm really pleased with it so far (thanks Sub, you kick ass!). If I can get all the options I want working then I'm going to invest in an MVP to run this all to the living room.

My problem is that most of my videos are in DivX format. When I select any, GB waits a few seconds an then says there was an error playing the file. They play perfectly fine in Media Player and the like, so the codec is definitely OK.

I've pulled the following from the logs...

13:29:18.593 INFO DirectShowPlayerBase::playVideoFile(F:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Videos\Ripped For Player\100 Greatest Goals\VTS_01.avi)

13:29:18.609 VERBOSE getSetting(TvShape)
13:29:18.609 VERBOSE getSetting(VMRPreferYUVMixing)
13:29:18.609 VERBOSE getSetting(VMRWindowedMode)
13:29:18.609 VERBOSE getSetting(DefaultFPS)
13:29:18.656 INFO Found video stream
13:29:18.906 INFO IMediaDet->getFileFPS() indicated fps = 25.000000
13:29:18.906 VERBOSE getSetting(PreferredMpegPlaybackDemux)
13:29:20.000 VERBOSE getSetting(ListGraphFilters)
13:29:20.000 VERBOSE Graph contains the following filters:
13:29:20.000 VERBOSE - Default DirectSound Device
13:29:20.000 VERBOSE - Video Renderer
13:29:20.000 VERBOSE - MPEG Layer-3 Decoder
13:29:20.000 VERBOSE - DivX Decoder Filter

13:29:20.000 VERBOSE - F:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Videos\Ripped For Player\100 Greatest Goals\VTS_01.avi
13:29:20.000 VERBOSE getSetting(SaveGraphFiles)

13:29:24.453 VERBOSE DirectShowPlayerBase:Confusedtop@2 (skipping window positioning)
13:29:24.453 VERBOSE DirectShowPlayerBase:Confusedtop@3
13:29:24.453 VERBOSE DirectShowPlayerBase:Confusedtop@4
13:29:24.453 VERBOSE DirectShowPlayerBase:Confusedtop@5
13:29:24.453 VERBOSE DirectShowPlayerBase:Confusedtop@6
13:29:24.453 VERBOSE DirectShowPlayerBase:Confusedtop@7
13:29:24.453 VERBOSE DirectShowPlayerBase:Confusedtop@8
13:29:24.656 VERBOSE DirectShowPlayerBase:Confusedtop finished

These are the properties of one of the files I'm using (I have a feeling this could be part of the issue)...

Image
------
Width: 352
Height: 264

Audio
-----
Bitrate: 192Kbps
Format: MPEG-layer 3

Video
-----
Frame Rate: 25fps
Data Rate: 119Kbs
Video Sample Size: 24-bit
Video Compression: DivX

Does anybody have any advice or ideas as to what may be stopping the file from playing??

I haven't been able to find any specific configuration option or anything like that relating to DivX (such as selecting which codec to use or something), so if there is something like that then this is probably the 1st place I should try!

There doesnt seem to be an attempt to play a divx file in those logs. Can you please a set of logs immediately after reproducing the problem?

This logs only contain an error about trying to use FM radio without an FM tuner being present.

There is nothing obvious in the logs.

If you try overlay instead of VMR7, does it make any difference?

OK, that changed things... Now the file seems to open, and DivX springs into life in the taskbar (complete with GBPVR losing focus to it as described by others). The CPU utilisation goes from a consistent 0-1% up to a consistent 20-30%, so it seems like DivX is doing its bit decoding the file and attempting to play it. However, GBPVR just stays in the same state... The list of video files is still shown rather than the video itself. I've tried all of overlay, VMR7, VMR9 & custom VMR9 to see if that makesa difference, but it doesn't seem to change matters.

Any ideas!?

I'd try installing a different divx decoder.
