I'm a noob and have GBPVR working pretty well with a couple of add-on plugins (weather, theater listings etc.) but I have some gripes about performance which may not be GBPVR related.

It seems every so often GBPVR becomes non-responsive, Does nothing but play the current recording/live TV etc. then after a period of time (varies from seconds to minutes) the remote commands (FF, RW, pause, play etc) all get executed at once. (almost like they're sitting in a que) And on even rarer occasions the playback freezes when trying to skip forward or back.

I checked the task manager and my CPU usage is low ~20-30% but my memory usage seems kind of high ~ 400+MB There are also quite a few duplicate processes running such as svchost & explorer, eating up a fair bit of memory. Sometimes but not always these non-responsive periods occur when the hard drive is really crankin away. Perhaps its doing a memory dump/swap.

Below are my system specs. This is a dedicated GBPVR box.

Win XP Home
1.6GHZ Pentium 4
512MB ram
120GB HD (about 80-90GB free)
PVR-150 with IR blaster to sattelite box
Nvidia 5200 S-video out to TV
Edit: latest version 9813

The tray only shows drivers running for the sound and video cards, GBPVR service, IR control, the clock, and volume control

There is a problem with the Hauppauge remote (or more likely its driver software) that can cause this behaviour. When this next happens, try using the keyboard to see if its still responsive. I'm guessing you'll find keyboard still works fine.

Last night I tried the keyboard command when the remote wouldn't respond. And that didn't seem to make a difference. The keyboard commands just piled up on top of the remote commands then they all were executed in a row, when it freed up. It definately looks like GBPVR (or anything for that matter) is not responding until it decides that its ready.

:Edit: It seems more noticable near the end of a longer show thats been recorded.

And this last time it was definately happening while the hard drive was busy saving or reading something. It makes me think I might need more RAM. I wish I knew more about computers?

Thanks for your continued help Sub.

I'm not really sure - it doesnt ring any bells for me.

Zip and attach the logs next time it happens and I'll see if I can see anything obvious.
