From the error message, I'm guessing something installed on your machine has installed an older version of the Windows common controls DLL, or something similar.

Ok, its not that file the - I'm using the same verison.
I'm not really sure what to suggest. The error is failing when it asks Windows to create a 'checked tree view' control. I'm not sure what would cause that.

Sub, have you seen those one?
http://blogs.msdn.com/asanto/archive/200...14426.aspx http://blogs.msdn.com/cbrumme/archive/20...51332.aspx http://www.dotnet247.com/247reference/ms...55008.aspx http://aspadvice.com/blogs/jfuentes/arch.../2141.aspx It is all about theme...? does it help? seems to come sometime after Application.EnableVisualStyles(); could you send me a trial version with this line disabled?

Those threads seem to talk about the problem occuring when they call Application.EnableVisualStyles(). I dont call this function. ...but I do use the manifest file to tell window to use the new visual styles.
You could try editing the Config.exe.manifest to remove the <dependency> section entirely.
