I've been playing with GBPVR for the last couple of days and decided to go ahead and build a dedicated system for it using 2 cards.

Everything is a fresh install OS, drivers, etc. I followed the basic install instructions in the longwalkthrough instructions.

Card1 is a Hauppage PVR-150. The card worked, although I have yet to be able to get audio working on that card (no audio in the Win2000 program either). I then installed card2; an ATI TV wonder Elite.

Here's where it all becomes interesting! when I installed the PVR-150 I set it up as Capture #1 and it accepted it properly, the audio problem not withstanding. i the physically installed the ATI card and when I went to set it up in the capture sources as capture #2 it wouldn't take (it said that the drivers weren't installed), so i tried it as Capture #1 and it works beautifully, sound and all.

However, now the PVR-150 isn't recognized at all as one of the Capture devices. I ran the DevicetypeCheck utility and it doesn't show up. I uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers and still have the same problem.

Any suggestions? First for the recognition of the capture source and second for the audio problem.

Thanks Much in advance!!

I have never tried two cards from different vendors before but my PVR-150 and PVR-500 works great, for the info you gave I was wondering if you loaded the latest windows drivers for the ATI card if not GBPVR will never see the card.

Yes, everything is a fresh install. With each step, I went to the manufacturers sites and downloaded and installed the latest drivers...Including the 2.0.43.24108 drivers for the Hauppage as recommended on many of the posts in this and other forums.

Any other thoughts?

Both cards will be device #1. You only increase this number if you have multiple cards sharing the same drivers.

Does this apply if you are using a PVR150 and a PVR500? They both use the same driver I believe. And what about the two tuners in the PVR500?
I've been using a PVR150 for almost a year and I've now built up a new system and got a PVR 500 as well but I don't believe it is seeing the PVR500.

I've also got a problem with using the S-video input on both cards. Vision but no sound, even in Wintv2000. I've tried the latest drivers and gone back to 24108 with no success. GBPVR tells that I haven't got the drivers installed.
perhaps Dljones can give me some tips on his setup.

Yes, the PVR150 and PVR500 cards need to increment the device number when used together. You'll have capture sources for device #1, #2 and #3, ie one for the PVR150 and two for the PVR500.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

The driver 2.0.43.24108 is beta for 64bit OS aka Windows XP 64 or Windows Vista, if you are not running a 64 bit OS please use WinTV-PVR-150 base driver: pvr150_500_2043_24103.exe WinTV-PVR-150 driver update and middleware: pvr150_22_23257.exe
Load 2042_24103 first the run the update this is what I am using without any issues and they are 32bit drivers not 64bit.

Hope this helps...

ok just to clarify about these device numbers, I can have multiple capture sources for a PVR150, and they will all use device1, and there will be no issue with GB-PVR thinking it has more than one tuner? eg. one for analog straight from cable, and one for digital from the STB.

thanks

No, this wont cause an issue. GB-PVR knows you could have multiple capture sources on the same physical device. It wont let you schedule two recording etc on the same physical device at the same time.

To help those that don't understand kernal and HAL in NT this is a must, even XP 64 can run 32bit apps the drivers are loaded in the NT Kernal and HAL so they have to match 32bit drivers for 32bit OS and 64bit drivers for 64bit OS (just like the Linux kernal when you compile a new driverBig Grin). Also make sure you see all your hardware in the device manager without any errors before you even load GBPVR if the OS don't see it neither will GBPVR, GBPVR don't load drivers the OS does so GBPVR can see them if no issues with the OS please trouble shoot your OS before loading GBPVR this will save you a lot of time and keep you on the right track for trouble shooting. Most assume if Windows don't pop up a meesage that everything is fine this is not true the event messages and device manager is your best friend loading new hardware and drivers. Just a few tips or tricks I have learned over the years working with NT, been doing it since Windows 2.0 and NT 3.5 and for those that can remember DOS running on Novell.. man telling my age here..
