Thank you Sub for clearing up the Device # issue. The examples I had looked at on the web site all dealt with people that had cards from the same manufacturer.

Any thoughts on the sound issue?

The comments from DLJones8053 I'm not sure are correct. The 24108 drivers are beta for both 32bit and 64bit, both are included...just a difference in how they are installed. That being said, I did uninstall the 24108 and reinstalled the 24103...still no sound.

Any suggestions out there? I notice a lot of posts in multiple orums about the sound not working on the PVR150's but none of the suggestions seem to have worked for me.

Thanks Much!

You don't have to agree I was telling everyone how I have my cards working and no where do I see below that the note to 64bit user that is it is 32bit as well, I do see you are reading and getting your info under the Vista support so my question is are you running Vista if not then don't use what is for Vista that should be left alone for regular XP users trust me Bill Gates will never tell us all the issues there OS hasRolleyes. I only give suggestions on how to set up hardware. I am not a programmer but Hardware I have been doing many years and always can get hardware to work no matter if it is Windows or Linux or how old it isSmile.

Leave your WinTV-PVR-150/500 installed in your PC. Follow the following steps:
  • Download two files to your computer:
    WinTV-PVR-150 base driver: pvr150_500_2043_24103.exe
WinTV-PVR-150 driver update and middleware: pvr150_22_23257.exe
  • Run the pvr150_500_2043_24103.exe file, which will install the base driver
  • At the completion of the driver install, you should see a message which says Drivers have been updated sucessfully..
  • After Windows has loaded the base driver, run the PVR150_22_23257.exe driver updater.
Note to users of 64-bit Windows versions: If you need a 64-bit driver for Windows XP 64-bit edition, download this driver here. Once downloaded, run this file which will automatcially unzip it. Then undate the WinTV-PVR-150/500 driver from device manager to install the new 64-bit driver. If you have previously run HCWClear, you will also need to install the 'driver update and middleware' plus any WinTV applications as noted above). Name: pvr150_500_basedriver_2043_24103.zip

I certainly didn't mean to offend you. I was just stating what I saw in the "Longwalkthrough" link as well as on the Hauppage site. I do see that the before mentioned drivers are listed under Vista Support also, but they also are listed under Beta drivers:

"Note: This file will automatically update or install the WinTV-PVR-150 and WinTV-PVR-500 driver in Windows XP 32bit Operating System. No further steps are necessary after running this installer."

I had read in numerous posts that others who have had the sound issue had installed this driver and it corrected the problem. It didn't for me. I was only pointing out for clarification (my own?) that these drivers as I understood it were also for non-vista OS.

I also have 20 years at building systems and have had my own brick and mortor computer sales and repair shop for years. However, this is my first attempt at building a realistic PVR and was having a few issues.

Once again, my intent was not to offend, only to clarify.

Thanks for your replies. I tried the 24103 files that dljones gave me a link to but they didn't want to load properly. A dll file was missing and when I installed wintv2k all that showed was a blank screen and no sound. I'm not sure what version of wintv2k I was using. Perhaps it was a later version then the driver files, although the program scan found all the channels ok.
I then ran hcwclear a couple of times and removing any extra programmes eg intervideo and the teletext prog etc. and manually checking the registry and removing suspect entries there and after all that I was able to load 24108 again and everything seems ok including the s-video inputs under XP Pro. I think I'm getting the time-line problem but I haven't modded the registry yet for that one and then I've got to sort out the MCE remote and HIP, of which I downloaded the latest version, so I've got to sort out the keys etc. It's just a matter of finding the time when I can get to the machine, perhaps Xmas isn't the best time when everybody is in the lounge and wants to watch TV.
Oh well!
Finally I wish everybody out there a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year and many thanks to Sub for all his hard work.
