Hi,

I've finally got my PVR system up and running using GB-PVR, Hauppauge PVR350 and the Media MVP. It's all working brilliantly and I'm really pleased with result.

One thing I have been trying to achieve is to allow my computer to hibernate when the PVR system in not in use, in order to save energy.

This works fine as far as GB-PVR on the PC itself is concerned. The program wakes the computer when it needs to record something, the computer goes back into hibernation once the recording has finished.

In order to send the computer back into hibernation I have set my power management settings to 'hibernate after 5 minutes'.

The problem I am having is that when I am watching pre-recorded shows via the MVP and GB-PVR is not recording, the PC seems to go into hibernation as if it is not being used.

Has anyone else had this problem? At the moment I'm stuck with disabling auto-hibernation before I watch TV and switching it back on again afterwards.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

You may need to go into your BIOS and check the advanced power management settings. Depending on your BIOS you can define which port, IRQ or PCI slot activity should be monitored.

Hi,

I had exactly the same problem and ended up not enabling any automatic hibernation (or going into standby) in the power management options.

The recording service wakes up my PC from standby to start recording and puts it back into the mode it woke it up from when it is done recording. In other words: there is no need to do anything special in your power management options (simply put the standby and hibernate settings to 'never'Wink.

Regards,

Jan
